Since Chanchi32's excellent Morrison's deal, I've realised it often doesn't pay to buy big things with money. Especially for shops that offer no cashback. It's better to earn something on buying the gift voucher, then use the gift vouchers to pay for the big item.

So I thought it might be good to put together a list of ways you can get extra mileage out of gift vouchers.

The Morrison's offer is over, but you can still get 25 Morrisons More Points for every £1 you spend on Gift Cards in store with a Match and More card. Which works out about a 2% return. Seems pretty small, but on a large purchase it makes a difference.

I know they sell the following cards, (there's probably be more):
- Amazon
- Boots
- Google Play
- iTunes
- Netflix
- Pizza Express
- PlayStation
- Xbox

Tesco often run gift card offers. Currently 15% off Pizza Express, 20% off New Look, 20% off Dining Out, 20% off Monsoon (ends tonight).

Then also 15% off digital vouchers for iTunes, Pizza Express, TicketMaster, Ask Italian, Zizzi and Debenhams

TopCashBack are offering 5% through their giftcard store on; Chef & Brewer, Currys PC World, Ernest Jones, Fayre & Square, Flaming Grill, Great British Pub Card, H Samuel, John Barras, Leslie Davis, Marks & Spencer, Starbucks Gift Card, Taylor Walker, Thomas Cook Digital, Thomas Cook Gift Card, Toys R Us, Wacky Warehouse

Some banks such as Lloyds also do cashback offers you can enable through your online banking, which work at supermarkets. These can also be used to get cashback on gift cards.

Zeek offers discounts on many giftcards https://www.zeek.me/buy-gift-vouchers/

What are you tips? What have I missed?

just watch out if buying gift cards, if something goes wrong the refund is back onto the card, recently got caught out on this, we can buy gift cards through work and got a bargain or thought I did until the item broke and didn't want the same one again. Then got the refund on to the cards and needed to wait for a good deal at that retailer. worked out in the end but took weeks to get a deal on the replacement. Also make sure you don't pay in full on the gift card, pay some of it on a credit card and you get the protection of using a credit card for the full value of the item.

That's a very good point, I hadn't thought about that. Perhaps it's not to wise if it's a shop that has a limited range of products. Thanks for the warning :)

I see that on some of the cards, the discount goes down as the amount goes up. How many smaller cards can you buy, is there a limit? Seems to make sense to buy more small ones than one big one.

FYI the zeek codes seem to expire the day before the expiry date
put an order in anyway using Quidco and that has tracked
I guess using it on a large purchase would have been a better idea but £25 voucher for less than £20 can't be bad

this might be of interest as wel
