Getting iPlayer to work on a 3G iPhone?

Bought the missus a 3G iPhone last Saturday and had a little play with it last night. Managed to get the WiFi to connect to my home router ok and browsing is fine. However, I've not managed to get iPlayer to work yet. I assume it does stream (ie not need to P2P download as you can do). For some reason, I even have problems getting the iPlayer page to load on it.

Anyone managed to get it to work?

Just sorting out some protection for it. Gonna buy one of those full protection Zagg screen and full body kits, but plus a silicon bumper all round. (See that as the best of both worlds - dont fancy a leather case!)

Its not jailbroken, (Dunno if I fancy invalidating the warranty) Not sure of what (free) apps I can chuck on it though without freeing the sheckles Apple put on them!

Id defo recommend jailbreaking it mate, you can restore and it unjailbreaks it if you have any trouble with it. Theres a hacked appshop when jailbreaking , really useful downloading all the expensive apps for free.

testing bbc iplayer now... nope not working either, it sometimes stops working but usually starts to work again later. I can connect to the page etc but the play button is faded perhaps they are updating.

Yeh, thats what I was getting last night. Seems to half load then stop. It also detects its a mobile and tries to load a mobile version of the site!

What's a good site for showing different apps for it? Most of the stuff on iTunes is carp (and wouldn't pay their inflated prices anyway!)

The later ones were more dreamweaver related.

I was gonna get a Zagg all over cover and protect it further with a silicone case.

Id get one or the other coz theres no point imo getting a zagg then putting a silicone one over it.

Yeh, maybe. Just want to make sure the screen stays safe.

What apps do you recommend and what site did you mean earlier?

If you're not going to jailbreak it, itunes app store is your only option. There are some pretty good apps on there if you have a good mooch around.

Get it jailbroken - opens up a whole new dimension to the iphone, can customise it, install apps from cydia including MMS if you like and if you're that way inclined google mipatch and if you need to take it back to Apple just to a restore in itunes, apple will never be any the wiser.

If you get a stall at boot you can still boot into recovery mode and do a shift restore in itunes, again putting 2.2 back on as stock and apple won't have a clue.

Image gives an idea of what is possible!
