GGGGRRRrrrrrr....ORANGE

Got a HTC Desire from Orange 4 months ago on a Racoon contract.

Last week, message "emergency calls only, no SIM card". Rang Customer Services, take battery out, wipe SIM etc. (conversation took 40 mins), working fine.

3 days later, same again but did not notice getting no calls until last Friday. Same procedure again except SIM still not working. Said sending out another SIM card, nothing arrived today.

Only just realised that most of my numbers were on the SIM, so will have to reload all sorts of info again

5 days with a non working phone, Orange have offered me £7 refund (I pay £20 per month). Why do SIM's just fail? Phone has not been mistreated in any way.

Orange are getting gradually worse. Won't be renewing my contract in 10 months

Orange are awful! Paid up my contract 9 months early so I can start taking phonecalls and texts again!!

Orange are going to be getting a lot worse. After the merger with T mobile a LOT of depts are being closed and the work outsourced. And some of these depts are key, but just because T outsource their work Orange are following suite.

wife has had hers nearly a year and can't make calls in the house and has to hold phone in the air near a window to get a text. Been on the phone to orange and they won't budge. £35 a month too, gutted

If you look through the contract you signed somewhere it'll state about Orange trying their best to provide the service you are paying for.

Huff and puff for the next month and say you cant use it, keep getting through to an advisor so that notes are left on your phone and dont use the sim regardless of it working or not, just keep saying its not working and eventually they will buckle and mutually terminate the contract/give you a more substantial line rental discount.

Good idea....still no SIM card, over a week now

If you do go down this route its essential you dont use the sim card for calls/texts/data regardless of having it or not.

It'll help to force the networks hand.
