girl in the office

I have just started to really get to know this girl in my office. I found that we share a lot in common. And as a result I am falling for her quite badly. Most of the time when I am with her, I get the feeling she is giving me the signal. But one time in conversation she told me that she has a boyfriend... erm advice?

Being friendly does not mean the same as flirting.
She's being friendly, that's all.

Optimism, I like it :)

Of course, there is the possibility that the water may not be so warm lol. And in that case things may get a bit awkward in the office. My place loves to gossip. And I think there could be some rumours going round about us before there is anything even going on!

If it's all the same. I have feelings for her that I am having trouble suppressing. Hence, I am venting out some thoughts on here.

Did you just take it as it went? I mean did it not bother you/her that she was with someone already?

Never been in a situation where I have fallen so badly for someone in the office, never mind someone that is already taken!

she did this thing with a mars bar in the staff canteen...was mad (_;)

Does she give you the impression that things are serious with the bf? I think she is just being friendly. I know what it's like to have feelings for someone but just continue getting to know her and wait till she finishes with her guy cos she may be fickle enough to do this to you too if you two get together and then she finds someone else to flirt with.

Most of the time when I am with her, I get the feeling she is giving me the signal.

Is that wishful thinking? What kind of signals? Plus after the initial lust has worn off and you decide you and her aren't compatible, you still have to work together so think long and hard about getting involved and check your workplace policy on employees getting involved with each other as some may ask one of you to quit as they may not tolerate them! Seems old fashioned but still happens.

Thanks for putting me off mars bars!!! oO

Can't say for sure but it doesn't seem like it's too serious with the bf. I guess if I am to start thinking with my head, there is an element of wishful thinking. But definitely a lot of smiling and playful interactions.

That's all just part of working in an office. I used to work in a hospital and used to have great banter with some of the doctors there. I too had wishful thinking but didn't act on it cos I could see it was just fun at work and better than a hostile/cold environment!! It passes the time and if she is interested, she'll finish with her bf first (hopefully) and then make it more obvious to you that she is interested. Just don't put yourself out of a job!

Maybe she just turned the bar into a chocolate goose?

Yes Fern, you are indeed wise! I like your comment. :) Now where can I safely hide these feelings so that they do me no more harm??

Exactly, who knows if she ate it at all or even turned it into a goose as a "mad" magic trick lol

Young Luke...you must learn to control the force!!! :p

It's hard to hide the feelings so just enjoy the laughs and banter and continue being yourself. Oh and use the feelings in the bedroom when you are on your own!! (_;):p

She is either using you for an ego boost or her relationship is dead. Either way it's a mess just enjoy the att without being too serious about it.

............until she says i have broken up with my boyfreind!

but yes for now i would keep going!

My advice - drag her into the stationery cupboard. If she screams 'rape!' then she doesn't fancy you.

How did she mention her Boyfriend? Does she mention him a lot or did it slip out once?

I had a similar thing happen to me years ago, I didn't even know she had a boyfriend for weeks even though we spent a lot of time talking. Someone else actually told me when they joked I was moving in on another guy's territory. The fact she never mentioned her boyfriend to me in all that time gave me the confidence to just move in for the kiss at the first appropriate opportunity after that. We went out for a while after that.

you got to think that she has a boyfriend and if she does anything with you shes cheating on him, there is nothing to say that she would not do the same to you.

I took 'wife' to mean 'victim', 'met' to mean 'stalked', 'hit it off' to mean 'chloroformed' and 'rest is history' that she is locked in his basement.

Dear goodness its scary how much some people choose to share on here...
#34
Just ask her outright if she is interested.

Saves all the messing around, then you will know either way and be able get on with your life.

Good afternoon

so the same thing happened to me a while back, i even made a thread about it haha!

did similar things, we're in different teams but she always makes an effort to come over and chat, invited me to lunch a few times, lots of hugging, emails etc and constantly complimenting me she even made me a cake lol. but never spoke to anyone else in my team.

she got to know the intern who sat behind me a bit as she would borrow his chair if he was away from his desk so we could chat and when he left he invited her for drinks and she asked if i was going. etc etc so the signs were fairly strong.

then one day she mentioned she was going on holiday and i asked who with and she said a long list of people and right at the end her bf! i took a double take haha! anyway, i'm not the type to actively try and steal someone elses gf so i eased off on the flirting and started to ignore her a bit and i could tell it was annoying her and then i met someone else who i'm really happy with.

i still talk to the office girl but it's not the same as before, which i prefer as my office is quite gossipy too!

oh and she's still with her bf haha!

I met my missus (and mother of my children) in the office at work. She had a BF already, but IMO it was her choice not mine. I liked her, made that clear and we started seeing each other. 6 months later she left him and we've been together ever since (and had two lovely children). Best decision she ever made, lol :-p

The fact she never mentioned her boyfriend to me in all that time gave me the confidence to just move in for the kiss at the first appropriate opportunity after that. We went out for a while after that.

We were having a really long chat about random stuff and generally having a laugh. Then the phone rang and she was talking for a couple of mins. We started talking about other stuff after the phone call but then we touched on a topic which she was talking about on the phone. So I asked if it was related, and she said no she was just mentioning something to her boyfriend. I didn't really ask anything else as I was quite taken back by that. I couldn't have guessed it really.
