What on earth is a 13 year old doing with 8 pairs of jeans and 2 pairs of Uggs?
My daughter same age has 2 pairs of jeans and no Uggs thank goodness.
#11
Shes definitely gonna need more tops, prob more shoes and a few dresses too!!! My daughter went away for three days with school last year and when she had finished packing i couldnt lift her suitcase!!
#12
The Suitcase will be a lot lighter on the return trip. she's bound to lose a few tops and bottoms ;-)
#13
8 days in china at 13 hey, school trips have improved. and yes I can see how those things and poss a couple more tops would be vital, you need to have choice and changes for the evening ;-) hope it all goes well, bet she'll have an amazing time

differant footware for each day maybe pushing things though, 4 pairs should be more than enough
#14
Coats, jackets what about coats and jackets :p
#15
all that for 8 days, barky i have to agree with you on the women bit. Im pretty sure shes packing more for 8 days, than i have packed for my 9 months at uni :p

my 13 year old daughter is as tall as me now and has slowed down on getting much taller (for now anyway, lol) so she's accumilating loads of clothes, she doesn't seem to be growing out of them anymore.

its not too bad they will save pocket money up and also ask for the more expensive items for christmas and birthdays etc not to mention the sales but i do find alot of the stuff really good quality and lasts them so i dont mind if they would sooner have a £150 pair of uggs at christmas and just a couple of other pressies then thats down to them theres nothing else they really need lol its all make up and designer clothing they want.

they dont get them all the time its mainly for birthdays and xmas now unless i see something in the sales at a good price. its my own fault as i used to buy this type of stuff all the time when we had more money and old habits die hard im afraid but its not just them its me and there dad too i think once you are used to having such things you find the money for them.

Make sure she leaves some space in her suitcase for the trip back, the markets are awsome and I'm sure she'll have fun going shopping and bartering for everything.

What a wonderful opportunity at this age, going to China.

My friends daughter went last year with school and spent 10 out of 14 days isolated by the chinese for suspected swine flu ! Very expensive isolation therapy.

Hope she makes the most of it and the less she travels with, the better

What a crass comment to make.

Barky, hope your daughter has a wonderful time, what a great opportunity. The less she goes with, the more space she has for bringing purchases back with her.

To compare, not all females are the same - I am currently packing for myself and my two daughters - 11 days in Texas, leaving on Thursday - hoping to get everything we need into one (large) suitcase. (and taking a smaller one with us as well for anything we might get the urge to buy while out there!!) :-D

There are many parents out there that put their booze n fags first on their shopping lists - so its nice to hear of a parent who likes to spend their money on their kids. I am exactly the same with my son. He isnt the least bit spoiled though and a great wee boy.
