After 4 years leaving with an (increasingly) battered pair of glasses Ive decided to bite the bullet and buy myself a nice new pair of glasses.

After browsing round I found a pair of Ted Bakers in Vision Express that I fell in love with. However I had a heart attack when they told me how much it would cost for the lenses (£90 for the basic up to £155 if I wanted reactions).

Im pondering if I could by the frames from Vision Express and get the lenses fitted somewhere else for example selectspecs.com.

Has anyone done this?

Were you happy with the result?

Also:
Reaction (Transition) lenses are they any good?

Does anyone have them work in an office near a window does the lenses behave or do they tint when you dont need/want them to?

Thanks for everything guys xx

Have you tried online sites like GlassesDirect.co.uk ?

transition lenses are brilliant, I would definitely recommend them.

Not done it myself, but I believe that online glasses sites offer the same frames as in store at a REALLY low cost. If you have a look around you should be able to find the same ones

I've tried hunting round for a similar frame.
I've looked at sites like glassesdirect and not been overly impressed by the range, but that's just me being pickly lol

I had Reactions lenses a few years ago (Specsavers were offering them for free) and didn't like them. Took hem ages to change back to clear when I went inside. Plus, when it was horrible weather but still bright they used to change so I looked like an idiot wearing sunglasses in torrential rain lol.
But they might have changed for the better now since I had them.

The frames will have a frame number on it. Make a note of it and ring round other opticians like specsavers and see if you can get a cheaper price. Just because its not in display in an opticians doesn't mean they can't supply it........

This guide gives a couple of websites for designer brands

I have had them for years, and my parents have had them for at least 10 years. They should change back pretty quickly when you go inside.

Here's what you do. Go into Vision Express and get the code on the frame. I paid less than 40% of the Vision Express price at www.metsuki.co.uk on a Police frame and lenses and they arrived in 3 days. You can't argue with that!
