What shambles this year is. 30k tickets still unsold. i really do believe its because of jay-z headlining and not an actual decent band and not down to the "new way" they're selling the tickets. what's everyone's thoughts on this?

He's pulled out anyway, so I heard.

yea there's rumours of it (i pray he does)

yeah, i agree - don't see someone like Jay-Z as a "festival" artist, it's similar to when 50 Cent played at Reading in 2004 and he got bottles thrown at him....deservedly in my opinion - harsh i know, but i hate that type of music

Jay who? lol

he's a rapper from the states who used to be with beyonce. all he ever does is: uh, yeah, uhuh, yea, in the house, yea, yea, jay-z. and he doesnt even sing those mumbles!? i was really proud of them throwing those bottles at 50cent, granted he's done a couple of tunes i can bop along too (jeeez i sound old) but most of it is just rubbish. when you think of glastonbury or reading/leeds festivals, you think of bands. people who play the instruments they use to make the songs they created. maybe im just not down with the kids anymore.

I dont understand how you can say 'deservedly'. So what if you don't like the music, its not his fault he's there performing. Blame the person who's booked him.

People who threw bottles at him are cowards imo. You wouldn't throw a bottle at some random person in the street, so why is it ok to throw a bottle at someone on a stage. Why were these people not throwing bottles at the person who booked him?

I don't really think people book for the person who is headlining. In my day (LOL) you didn't know who was going to be playing until a few weeks before hand. Scary how different it has become in the last 15 years. When i first started going you could only get tickets from the ticket office in glastonbury. Must take the children next year although as I haven't been for about 8 years it worries me how commercialised it will have become. I hated the fact that in more recent years when you could charge your mobile and they had cash machines!
Do I sound really old???!!!

I can't really see how selling 100,000 tickets in a day is a shambles, what other festival can do this?

It'll still sell out, just not as quick as usual. A lot of people have been put off by the mud and rain of the last 2 festivals.

I'll be there again this summer anyway, there are a lot more acts to see when jay z is on. Most of which have not been announced yet so how can you say there is no decent bands on?

no they didn't they have a presale every year straight after the festival so there is no where near that amount when they go on general sale

Plus the fact you are talking about the total of two festivals

Jay Z aint that bad, I would suppose most of you haven't heard the Linkin Park collaboration with Jay Z tis very good. Glastonbury isn't just about indie music its about all sorts of music, a festival of music, I've seen Rolf Harris, Tony Bennet, and random obscure bands and musical groups, of all types and genres. If you don't like Jay Z fair enough but its only one act of many, I love all music BTW.

T in the park sells out within a few hours

im a fond lover of music that is music. not a guy mumbling over the same constant beat. and i believe the collaboration he did with linkin park ruined the original version of numb.

Im going to pass on this years festivel. Gonna do GateCrasher Summer Sound System + Global Gathering instead. Their alot cheaper and its so much less hassle.

one act does not make glastonbury, there's loads to do and see, would you seriously consider not going because you don't like one act?:?
