use the gmail at the end of your email other than googlemail it will get forwarded regardless! Go on try sending yourself an email using that!

Hi slojo.
I don't know if it still works, but if you use a proxy that is based in america, you will be able to register you an [email protected]' account (as long as you select USA as your location).
www.sneakysurf.com is one...dont know if this works. If it doesn't, try searching 'Bypass Firewall' into Google.
#3
as harlzter says, you automatically have both - gmail is just the short version...
#4
i was told gmail, i registered at mail.google.com and got a 'gmail' address, but like others have said, it doesn't matter
#5
they are both the same

I have a gmail account though....

Well actually know, it's google mail in england and germany due to copyright infringement. It's gmail everywhere else.

oh right, didn't know that. But you do have both addresses automatically with a googlemail address; I suppose that's how I should have put it

There is a way. Firstly, you have to know someone who has (or already have yourself) an account which is gmail.com and not googlemail.com. Then all you have to do is get your friend to send you an invite using the @gmail.com account (or send one to yourself if you're the one who already has the gmail.com account). The newly created account will be @gmail.com.

Rep plz lol ;)

Note: when i say send an invite to yourself i literally mean send the invite TO the same account you're sending it FROM. It actually works, done it often myself.

rubbish e-mail though - prefer yahoo although that soon may become MSN anyway ....

Gmail is the simplest, fastest and slickest interface of the lot though.

Have you logged in recently - they butchered the interface with a "new version". Its as slow as hell, and it keeps defaulting to it even if I switch to the other one.

lol, i use different accounts for different things. E.g. 1 is my main point of contact with friends and most other things, one is a "spam" one that i use whenever i need to give my email address to get a freebie for example, one is for my website, one is for any cashback or reward point programs im with etc.

All sorted now. I used an anonymous proxy (www.browser9.com) and said I was in the US. Voila!

Logged in yesterday, both my accounts are the same interface, same as it's been for months.

https://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=1
I found a quick way to default to the old interface. I just like it better. The changes were phased, the US interface was changed first, then the UK one.

The older version as shown here is OK and the new version is OK in IE7

The new version just times out for me in firefox but only started this afternoon

I didn't have problems with timing out, but the pages would take a age to load (like when moving between inbox and a label)
Just bookmark the link and hope they don't take the old interface away!
