thanks guys. Yvonne I have seen that personal tv thing but I think they charge for it and I would be looking for channels that are good for sport updates. Will ring patientline, thanks.

Yes, but with considerable cost :)http://www.patientline.co.uk/using_ptl_sevices.htm

Best bet is to take a personal dab radio.

Tell them that you'll only stay in the Childrens Ward............patientline is free in there. Or it is at least in our region. :-D

Patientline is a rip off and most hospitals block wi fi signals too so your dongle may not work. Some do offer internet access for a price and have local network connections so phone the ward you're staying on

They switch it off at 9pm in our local hospitals, which is ridiculous as a parent who regularly spends night with children in hospital its boring sitting there after 9pm worrying about your child.

Forgot to say last time I was in hospital I was unable to use my phone to connect to the internet as the signals were blocked.

Thanks, yeah I have found out its £3 a day which isn't too bad but no internet with it. Might just take the radio and laptop with dongle.

You can access the internet from your bed these days, it doesn't cost that much!

Mind you I was in a private room, don't know about the wards.

Thanks, I'm going to Weston General Hospital and they don't have the net there.

i thought the idea of hospitals was to get treated for illness and rest. surely should enjoy the relax and go techno free if its only a quickie. I would hate to be sharing ward with that going on, and its unfair on nursing staff keeping eye on it.

was in ward last wk and sister banned all the gear because of the interference it was causing, she got a round of applause for her stand. all this gear can hide airborne bugs they are struggling with already. lets be considerate and careful out there. I hope you come out more bionic and fit than u went in.

If you knew what I am going in for you'd realise its going to be impossible for me to enjoy and relax, I just want to be able to keep in touch with the football otherwise it'll make my time in there drag even longer.

I will of couse wear headphones so no one else would be disturbed, unless they're Tottenham fans! :-D
