Sculpture park, my daughters loved it there as did my neice! 1 of my daughters did get told off for standing on a flat sculpture by some one who said that she had no respect for peoples work! But other than that a great day out.

Go to temple newsam, It is great walking round the grounds and there is parks and lakes to play with the kids with. Best of all is the rare breed farm with loads of animals to feed and little piglets running around free. It is Free to get into the grounds, free parking and only £8 for a family of four to get in the farm and that includes the feed for the animals:thumbsup:

You are seriously better off going to Leeds. I made the mistake of booking a hotel in Wakefield for 3 nights over xmas a few years back & i can honestly say there isn't much to do - sorry

Cheeky Monkeys is an excellent place for indoors if its raining, or Thorne park is great play place if its a nice day

Cheeky Monkeys http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=wakefield&sll=53.589834,-1.280497&sspn=0.00698,0.02238&ie=UTF8&ll=53.684799,-1.49025&spn=0.000435,0.001399&t=h&z=20

Thorne Park http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=wakefield&sll=53.589834,-1.280497&sspn=0.00698,0.02238&ie=UTF8&ll=53.676079,-1.513198&spn=0.000435,0.001399&t=h&z=20

Also Newmillerdam is quite a good outside place (ducks etc) http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=wakefield&sll=53.589834,-1.280497&sspn=0.00698,0.02238&ie=UTF8&ll=53.637132,-1.497231&spn=0.006972,0.02238&t=h&z=16

If you want a day out, a train journey to Doncaster or Leeds will only cost you (the kids will be free), and the train to Doncaster takes you straight into the Frenchgate shopping centre.

I agree my kids love this, the grounds are huge and gorgeous lovely for a picnic, and the farm is great, and there is a lovely tea shop and ice cream van etc. There is also two nice parks for the kids.
