Golf Lessons

I really fancy some golf lessons, with my time as a footballer getting less due to injury I need to find something that will fill my time and I really do enjoy golf. I have played a bit in the past although I am not very good as I have a terrible slice.

My father who is a very good golfer says that with a bit of guidance I could be quite decent as I can hit a ball well, its just direction that needs sorting.

Has anyone had golf lessons, if so how many did you have before you started noticing a vast improvement?

Thanks

Many drving ranges do group lessons and I think that is the best option. Individual lessons are expensive and you can only take in/practice so much at each lesson. You will never notice a vast improvement - just a gradual improvement in time... If you practice on a range pick a target, many people just go and whack the ball as hard as they can and trying slowing down your swing.

I was a total golf beginner. My local club did a few "taster" lessons (private) and if you decided to continue after that, the lessons cost £99 for 10 - hardly expensive! I have improved dramatically (i.e. from not even knowing how to hold a golf club lol) to actually hitting the ball - in the right direction, and occassionally (very occassionally!) actually getting the ball in the net I was aiming for on the range! I'd thoroughly recommend it! Good luck!

£20 a lesson at my club - the council does some group ones about £40 for 8 lessons. There are other advantages to having group ones though other than being cheaper. You have time to think about what the pro has just said and put it into practice without him/her looking over your shoulder whilst he/she is giving advice to other members in the group.
