Read the John Lewis guide, find a coffee maker and then search the web for the best price.

I have a Cuisinart Grind & Brew, bit expensive but makes perfect filter coffee.

Firstly what type/types of coffee you looking for it to make? Coffee by the bucketload, or more speciality ones such as cappucino, espresso, latte's? Do you want a high pressure steam pump for frothing milk? I have two machines, a standard morphy richards for normal coffee's like this which is never off

and this for espresso and cappucino

Or you could have me who with the help of the above two makes excellent coffee :-D I dont come cheap though:w00t:

You thought about a Cafetiére if you only want a cup/mug each now and then? take less space up and make a good cup of coffee:thumbsup: Can get a good one by such as bodum for around £7/8 ish http://www.videojug.com/film/how-to-make-cafetiere-coffee

I have one I take away with me when I go on holidays.

I agree. I have a Gaggia at home for lovely coffee, but at work I use a cafetiere and it makes wonderful coffee.
For anyone who thinks you don't get hot coffee this way - warm your cafetiere and mug with boiling water first, and warm your milk too in the micro for 10 secs. Very hot coffee every time.

Tell me about it! I drink around 10 mugs of filter coffee a day plus a few shots of espresso and a cappucino or two! Probably more than is good for me healthwise too. There used to be a good coffee called "rocket fuel" high caffeine with guarna a couple of mugs of that and it made you hyper! Sadly I cant find it for love nor money now :x

Looks like its only available as instant or powershots http://www.rocketfuel.uk.com/

I bought a lovely machine from starbucks which I also bought the grinder for too - but I am afraid that I have turned into a lazy c*w and have just bought myself a nespresso machine (le cube) which takes nespresso capsules which has filter coffee inside - you just pop the capsule in the machine - push the handle down and press the button (small cup or big cup) and hey presto lovely coffee - There is nothing wrong with my starbucks machine (as I'm moving I'm actually going to try and sell it at a car boot) and would recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind the preparation of coffee making - but for me like I said I'm now lazy - lol
