I was in Mapperly in Nottingham returning to my car when I found a purse on the floor in the gutter. There were 3 cards in it, a prescription and £12.

None of the cards had much detail on, but the prescription had her address in Gedling so I decided to take the purse to her as I don't entirely trust, say the chemist, or whoever to delivery it back to the owner.

I had to ask about 7 people for directions and got there 40mins later and she was still out. So left her a note, posted it and her purse and left.

The question and competition is as follows;
I left my mobile number on the note...will I get a thankyou? yes/ no. If yes? when? and by text or call?

Closest person to get it correct wins absolutely no free rep from me (because this is against the rules so it ain't happenin!! maybe) lol I will close the compe...discussion at 9 tonight-she should have returned home by then and acted accordingly if she's gonna.

I don't mind either way, we've had 2 or 3 purses/wallets returned to us in the past so have returned the deed to someone else now.

Could've done with that £12 tho!! lol wouldnt be eating fishfinger sarnies for my tea then!!

Afaik, rep is not something to be traded, begged for or given away in competitions. You might want to leave the rep bit out..?

Should have kept the cash.....if people can't look after their money then they shouldn't be allowed it

ok i will most definately certainly not be handing out rep for the right person maybe not. Thanks for pointing that out 'edited'

thats possibly the stupidest post uve made on this site lom, loads of ppl have posts on here asking for help and then say "rep will b left"

the op wont get into trouble for it at all, u leave the rep bit in there if u want op, that was a trolly comment aswell lom.

im sure ull comment back saying "it was merely some friendly advice" but we both know it wasnt, it was ur way of adding something negative to this thread, think ur starting to annoy a fair few ppl on this site (not including me in this coz i think ur an interesting member) but im sure people are classing u as a troll atm, and those kind of posts arent really helpingothers to believe ur not...im off to watch the gp, catch u later.

You will not get a call but you will maybe get a text perhaps saying thanks and possibly find that credit has been added to your phone,

Or maybe not.

good on you. she should give you the £12 for fuel.
If she text you a thank you ,she is really tight
but I think she will ring you to say thanks.

probably still walking home cause she lost her bus fare, you probably passed her on the way there and back. maybe you asked her directions. lol

You'll get a call from her son/daughter thanking you profusely on her behalf. About 30 minutes after she arrives home distraught by her loss. You've done a good good thing.

My mobile dropped out of my pocket at the garage once and the person who found it returned it. Wasn't worth much, but had all my contact numbers on, so i gave the young lad a fiver.
Well done you for doing the right thing.
Rep left x

Its awful I think when that happens. My boyfriend came across a lost dog in Watford, fed it gave it a home for the night, kept trying the owners and took it in to the nearby vets the next morning when they opened. He called the vets later that day and the dog had been claimed and he never received a thankyou or anything. Items are one thing but pets are another in my eyes.

Too right, items such as money, phones etc are simply material possessions our dogs however are part of the family

I think the person In question will thank you with a quick text. I hope they do anyway as you went out of your way for them doubt there are many would go that far.

I got the call!
She sounded lovely- 'I can't thank you enough' etc. She said she'd hopped out of the car so must have dropped it when getting out. Was grateful for the trouble I'd gone to too.

Bless her.

So who got it right. I'm so totally not adding rep to you right now...

oh and everything was still in it as she'd left it so noone had gotten to it before I had. Good news all round.

Thats really good, makes you more likely to do it in the future when people take the time to actually acknowledge what you have done

My good deed for the day was wrapping one of the shoeboxes I have filled for the shoebox appeal. Still got 2 more to do but my arthritis means I can only do one a day

Is that like Operation Christmas Child? I peeked into one of the boxes brought in by the children the other day and was almost moved to tears by the kindness shown in such a simple gesture. The box was filled with a sponge, soap, crayons, a teddy, a woolen hat and gloves, a picture drawn by the child who handed in the box, a photo of them and other small items which would bring such joy to a child with nothing this xmas.
