Hi Kermitzbitz

Took the family to london last march and from deals we found both here (thankyou members of hukd) and with national express trains and got 2 nights in the liverpool street travelodge inc breakfast, top tickets for we will rock you which was stunningly good and travel to and from the capital for five people and got change although not a lot from £250.

Travelodge ~ £59 (2 nights)

Show tickets ~ £150 (2 for 1) so we had a spare ticket

Train ~ £48 (using family railcard, wrong carriages allocated so we got 1st class lol)

By getting the extra night at the hotel it makes the trip more worth while as it gave us time to do the eye, buck house, hyde park,a couple of museums and a trip on the thames using two for one offers where applicable.
We did the trip again in the summer doing the wembley tour and walking with dinosaurs staying in the wembley hilton all for a similar price and are off again soon to see the jersy boys and mama mia.

One thing i found useful was to travel as light as possible and as soon as you get off the train leave your stuff at left luggage (approx £15) as you cant check in till fairly late on so you either have to wait around to do so or haul your luggage around with you.

i dont know which one as my mate has booked it but just done a quote for the same time as we are going and this one comes up

£96 for 2 people for 2 nights. she has stayed here before and said it is no problem getting the tube in and out of london, i think this is bargain even cheaper than what we paid. ALso a friend told us it is better to get tickets on the day for the theatre as you pick up the biggest bargains especially if you dont care which show you see.

Good Luck

yes... i totally agree with wanting to make a weekend out of it.. hilton are doing 50% off weekend deals at the moment but 50% off a £400 a night room is still £200.. it seems a bit extortionate to me.

you can pick it up a lot cheaper at superbreaks which was where we were looking but the hotels were only basic i would say you are cheaper to book separately

we paid £51.25 for 2 nights at hotel each and £21 for the train fare have a look for bargains on the trains
only have to pay out for out ticket now which we are willing to pay around £50 on the day

thanks pinklady... i'll have a look into that

The tickets for the show were linked to travel so you had to produce your train tickets to take advantage so worked out @ 2 for £50 though i think you can only get them for mon,tue or wed (half term excluded).
Hoel was in sale also:)

I know what you mean but if you want to do the whole valentine (mr lover lover shabba!) thing i'm afraid it's going to cost,if on the other hand you want to do lots getting value for money then the sale rooms are fine if you want to use the hotel as a base and do other things.

How about a sale room and not one but two red roses...shabba:thumbsup:

Just found this; it's a list of all the Plays/Shows currently on in London and you can search by Critics rating, thought it might be useful.
