Good Morning ... Not a lot of people know this ?

.Not a lot of people know this ?

WHO KNEW THIS???

Like everyone else I have been traveling in cars/driving for most of my life .. I would think I should have noticed the little secret on the dashboard that was staring me in the face the whole time...I didn't...and I bet you didn't either...

Have you ever rented or borrowed a car and when arriving at the petrol station wondered...mmm, which side is the petrol filler cap?

Normal solution is to stick your head out the window, strain your neck and look, try to see in the side mirrors or even get out of the car!!!!

Well ladies and gentlemen, I'm going to share with you my little secret so you will no longer look like Ace Ventura on your way to the petrol station or put your neck at risk of discomfort or injury.

If you look at your petrol gauge, you will see a small icon of a petrol pump?

The handle of the petrol pump will extend out on either the left or right side of the petrol pump?

If your filler cap is on the left, the handle will be on the left?

If your filler cap is on the right, the handle will be on the right (see photo post #2).

It is that simple!

(edit ... or maybe not!!!¬)

I don't know how you feel right now but when I found out this morning I felt cheated!

WHY don't the dealers share such important information with car buyers?
I don't understand why this isn't in the Highway Code or even the car manufacturers manual??
I don't get why any mechanic I have ever been too or know has even thought of mentioning this to me??
The only possible explanation can be that all these people probably don't even know!

Go out and share the world's best kept auto secret with your friends as this is information is way too important to be kept secret.

Well as far as I knew at the time of posting it was true!
I had never heard of it either before!! .. but it seems that there is the 'odd exception' to the rule ............ so maybe it's a 90% of the time guide! ? lol

(.. good job it was posted in nonsense too  )

btw snowtiger, isnt it the other way round, as in the the picture with the side of the car ur fuel cap.......if u look at jtx his makes more sense because if u were in a petrol station, the way his picture on the fuel gauge is, would be exactly how u wud have to drive into the fuel bay.

Just testing:thumbsup:

I think most gauges have the nozzle to the right. Most German cars have the filler on the right, most Japanese cars have the filler on the left as do my Honda and Lexus, although the Subaru is Japanese and the filler is on the right:?

:-D

Morning Cas, I never knew you were 104. You look good for your age ;-)

Thanks for the info snowtiger. It's a new thing which companys are trying to put in all models of their car ranges. Think Ace is right though, if the pump is coming from the left it means your petrol cap is on the right because at the feul court you would drive up to the pumps on the left.
Am I making sense
