you'll lose far more then £40 spending £200 in waitrose compared to doing your food shop elsewhere. Their prices are bordering on insane.

Depends what you call insane. Their food generally is of a much higher quality than tesco/lidl etc. It's like saying prices in M&S are insane but their standard of food is much higher IMO.

I'm referring to branded goods available across the big 4 chains.

i posted as im sure some people here may spend £100 a week at the store and could be looking at john lewis deals so a £40 off a sale could be worth it

But if you already shop there...

Their prices on branded goods are not too terrible and - yes - I would agree that their non-branded food is much better.

That is not the case on most branded goods because Waitrose price matches Tesco on branded goods. Only branded items in Waitrose that Tesco don't stock can therefore be more expensive. I mainly shop at ASDA but regularly pop into Waitrose to buy branded goods that are cheaper at Tesco than ASDA (and therefore cheaper at Waitrose) - we don't have a Tesco nearby.

If you already shop there you probably don't need to save £40 on a PS4.

Funny you'd say that. You know, even people with money don't want to necessarily waste it if they can help it. You don't make money out of not caring about how you use it.

Which is exactly my point - if you cared about how you spent money, you probably wouldn't be shopping at Waitrose, as it's not exactly the most frugal supermarket. When I said 'If you already shop there...' I didn't say I was talking about people with money, I was assuming that people shopping there don't care about splashing out that little bit extra, regardless of how much they have. Of course anyone would take advantage of a free gift card though.

Food is better in your opinion....? Well that's that then!

You'll end up spending more than saving. Not worth it.

Hmmm if Waitrose groceries site sold John Lewis gift cards you might have been on to a winner.

But I could have saved more than £40 by not shopping at Waitrose, what a dumb ass deal. COLD

Yes but one example we buy is Stella 4% four pack. £4 in ASDA £3.50 tesco /Waitrose. Not a special offer regular price.

I dunno, I got some own brand crackers from there last week that were burnt. I'd never seen a burnt cracker before that.

I really don't get how people think Waitrose is so expensive. Yes they sell some more expensive things but for everything else that Tesco have they price match. They keep sending me £8 off £40 shops too and you can choose an item to get discount on with the Waitrose card. My wife chooses Lavazza pods because you can't buy them in Tesco or Asda. We shop at all of the supermarkets as they all have cheaper things than one another.

They only price match non-discounted branded goods. I bulk buy most of my goods from tesco / asda when half price or BOGOF so a huge saving over time compared to waitrose, who seem to have very few decent offers. Plus, its only about 60p a delivery from tesco so saves me further time & money.
