Woohho, are we all getting one?

Wait until payday, you should get £60 lump sum then £10 a month until april, unless you are lucky enough to earn over £40k!
#4
It's money that people would have had anyway, if the govt hadn't made such a mistake with the removal of the 10p tax band so it won't make much impact on inflation.
#5
You don't think everyone is going to go out and treat themselves to something with the extra £60 - I know i am lol.
#6
I don't think they're so worried about inflation, would you rather they didn't give it to you so we all struggled to pay bills?
#7
No i would rather have a government that was more prudent with our money in times of boom so we aren't in the dreadful situation we are now.
#8
bush gave there people like $800 extra as a bonus in there pay packet, to spend on goods to boost there ecomony.
#9
do we all get extra £60 if we earn below £40k?
#10

I am 43 years old. I am working. I am seriously thinking of the wife having a baby every year now for the next couple years till we have 4 or 5 and living off the state. we have two children now and the wife has to go back to work in another few months cos we cannot afford her not too. Even more so now with everything sky rocketing in price.

Yet a lot of large families just sit on the dole and rake the cash in. There is def something wrong there!

It's not as if we have tons of cash. I am running an nearly 9 yr old Rover and the wife is running an 11yr old 306. We can just about to afford to pay the 1K per year on insurance and tax for these two cars, along with the £450 mortgage and other bills. In fact, I am thinking of Sorn'ing my Rover for a month just to delay the £185 charge I have to pay to drive 4K miles per year!

I'm totally with you myjess. We are in a similar position, I earn a fairly decent wage, but my wife had to go back to work because we couldn't afford for her not to. When you add in petrol, childcare etc, our outgoings every month are over 2k! It's not like we are spendthrift either. The country is in a right state!

I can empathise too.
I earn 42k a year...pay £600 tax a month, £250 national insurance, £310 pension. £600 rent,I cant get a mortgage, because of an ex dumped me in the s**t. £560 nursery fees for my 3 year old daughter, my wife cant get a job. Does life get any easier???

42K / yr. Feck, that's a millionaire's wage! If I had that kind of cash, I would be laughing my socks off.

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/politics/article3927280.ece

It means that anyone earning up to £40,835, the higher rate threshold, will gain £120 this year. The level at which people pay the higher rate of tax will be reduced to prevent higher rate taxpayers gaining. £60 lump The money will be forthcoming through a £60 lump sum in September pay packets, followed by £10 a month extra until the end of the year. The gainers include 17 million basic rate taxpayers who did not lose out at all from the loss of the 10p band. Some 600,000 people on low incomes will be taken out of income tax altogether.

it should be pointed out that it has only been announced for this tax year so from next year, low paid earners will be £120 a year worse off due to the 10% tax rate abolition.

Nice one Labour - NOT!
