18 years is a huge window. So it's basically just a way for older people to rip on anyone younger than them? That would make the oldest millennial 34!

Nice.

Well the whole thing is very much made up
if you click on the 'Generation X' button in that link it gives a whole different set of numbers
even the term 'a generation' doesn't have a set meaning(although 18 years is a popular one)

That is also an American website I for one would consider anyone born in this country during World war two as a 'baby boomer' but I can see how they wouldn't 'over there'

I disagree with that definition.

The author's right in saying that it's the unique events that happen during a generation's upbringing that defines it, but the ticking of the calendar from one millennium to the next isn't the defining event for people raised within the period, it's the advent of the internet in popular culture, and the social communications revolution. That happened within the childhoods of those now maybe 12-26. Those aged between 27 and 34 don't fit in with the younger generation - they're like a generation of their own, nestled between the Gen X'ers and Millennials. A lot of the older ones didn't even have personal internet access or phones until long after they left school.

The definition of millennial is 12-34 yr olds, but there's a whole psychological thing going on. Molly-cuddled is the main one. When parents of other generations raised their kids, they told them strict rules, told them off when they did something wrong etc. But millennial parents are assumed to leave the kid to cry, or give them a lollypop to shut up. Thus millenials have grown up to be selfish, disrespectful, ignorant. Now they have things called 'schoolphobia' and 'ADHD' to let them get away with being anti-authority in schools (so it's also to do with the changing world, and technology development).

I find it is definitely true for the vocal 12-34 yr olds, but a good 40% of them do not fall under the category.

Kids are spoilt these days. We only had pigs, sheep and cows. Now they have polar bears, ocelots and Ender Dragons. SMH

I'm theoretically a millennial and had strict rules, got told off and smacked when I was naughty, wasn't given a lollipop when I cried, no one got a prize for being a 'runner up' in a competition, was told 'no blood, no sympathy' and had strict moral guidelines I was expected to adhere to.
Your generalisation is pretty insulting and the 40% thing you said is nonsense.

I do think my generation have been brought up to believe that anything is possible, when in reality it isn't always. We don't have the skills our grandparents did but a lot of that is down to technology, changing social acceptances and changing of the family unit etc.

However, I love the song and his face & eyes are just so animated and the song is clever.
