That's the spirit! Pity mr.potato_head isn't in the running. :D

Why would anyone worry about heat exhaustion when some will die from falling?

I don't pray Paula Radcliffe doesn't get heat exhaustion every time she runs and that's worse, she's a human.

Relic of a "sport" that has no place in modern society. If it wasn't a billion pound industry it would be surely banned.
#6
its the jumps and the no hopers. Combine the two and i wonder how any finish at all.

This 3-day meeting averages 3 equine deaths per year. No other 'sport' accepts the deaths of some of its competitors as a 'normal' event and there are ongoing calls to improve conditions. The unseasonally high temps will only make matters worse.

If Paula Radcliffe was to race under the same conditions she will have undergone full acclimatization training with a team of advisors on hand in preparation. The same cannot be said for the horses running at Aintree - many of which will be running 'flat out' on untested ground.

Paula Radcliffe is a human - if one of the jockeys died then it might be comparable.

A horse dying is the equivalent of a total engine blowout in a F1 meet.

If they get too tired they'll stop won't they? I always do.

yeah its sad, i mean the jockeys whip the horses, its slavery of animals, but the human race doesn't care as long as it bumps up there bottom line :(

I presume then that you're a vegan? Or do you still have the odd bit of cold tuna?

The horses are trained and prepared for this and looked after very very well

So not any worries as all jockeys will know if the horse is suffering and pull them up if they are

Now come on Oscar time

Yup, I think that's a guv now, given,... erm, I mean a given now, guv :D

I actually agree with him to some extent though. I don't particularly enjoy eating other living things. I prefer mine to be stone dead.

Confirmation now that Ornais and Dooneys Gate did suffer fatal flaws in today's race. Our thoughts go out to the connections of those horses.

I have only just thought about how cruel this is!!!
#27
I dont care if the jockeys die, i only care about the poor horses, 2 dead, they should ban horse racing, its cruel anyway, there only allowed to do it because goverment gets massive tax's from the sport.

Actually, more important according to your previous post. I quote "I don't care if the jockeys die, I only care about the horses".
Ridiculous statement.
#33
Well more important then, as animals dont have a say, i fecking hate cruelty, i would not hesitate to put down a person who is cruel to a animal.

Horse racing isn't cruel. Dangerous at times yes, but not cruel. Perhaps those saying it is cruel need to do some research first

That's cruel!
Would you put down an animal that was cruel to another animal too?

Yeah, put down all carnivores, and the omnivores. Perhaps the herbivores should be put down for being cruel to vegetables (speaking of which, no addjon in this thread?)
