Graphics Card Advice

Hi all, I work in IT but im not a big gamer so I've never had a need for a big graphics card.

However I do watch a lot of TV & Movies on my pc.

I recently purchased the LG 42LF7700 and am using it as my secondary display / TV. As it is 1080p I want to watch some 1080p movies on it but at present Im running an onboard graphics card.

The board is the Gigabyte GA-MA69G-S3H with an Integrated ATI Radeon X1250-based graphics card.

Hardware spec AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ AM2 1MB Cache and some cheap 4GB DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 RAM.

Should I be upgrading gfx card to get the best out of video rendering? If so what sort should I go for?

The PC is presently connected to the TV by a 1.3b HDMI cable

Many thanks in advance

I wouldn't have thought it'd make a lot of difference, The PC's main job is to uncompress the data on the disk and pass it to the TV where most of the image processing gets done. According to wikipedia the X1250 uses an older version of AVIVO that only helps with some of the decoding so if your system is struggling with high quality 1080p content an upgrade may help there. (make sure you're using a player that support GPU decoding first though).
