Get a 360 or ps3 :lol

I gave up with pc gaming as an absolute games machine

I got fed up paying £300+ for a gfx card only to find it still moved rubbish even when using a quad core 3.0ghz Intel with 4 gig ram wd raptor hard drives and f1 sammys look at trials 2 on pc compared to 360 version saying that though it was only a £280 radeon x1950 XT gfx card i was trying to run the game on.

If you are going to spend a lot on a card might as well get the directx 11 card then cry a little when 12 gets mentioned in 6 new games coming out :lol ..which is why I gave up trying to keep up with em spent over £3,000 on gfx cards and now be lucky if they are worth £80 at best for the lot :(

But a PC is not just for gaming. The graphics card can help in so many other ways :)

GFX market in pc is aimed practically only at games, any gfx adapter(built in etc) can display screen. Photoshop*

Not really much call for a £450 gfx card to just do display unless 4x for cad/ design render etc.

OP I would wait for a new card to come out then pick up previous card at a bargain price. Don't be paying £300 for a gfx card

There are plenty of games on PC that never come out on consoles but yeah, if he already has a 8800 there is nothing gained in upgrading for any reason other than gaming.
