Graphics card help...

A while ago my graphics card packed in.. It was a PCI -E card... Can I just buy any PCI-E card to put in its place? As I wanted to get a slightly better card.. I know the power supply might not be good enough to power a better card, Which is ok.. As i'll buy a new one if needed..

Power supply aside will it work?

NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT is my old card and I would like to replace it with this one

Yep that will work just fine.

Only things really to consider are the power supply (as you've already said) and if the card will physically fit inside your case! (I know the 8800gt is a fairly long card anyway!)

Yea its a pretty long one! (and the card)... lol.. I'll see if I can find some dimensions. But the case we have seems to have plenty of room too..

Thanks for the reply.

GTX460 is a double slot card so keep that in mind. Also double check PSU, apart from that it will be fine.

sorry.. but what is a double slot card?

You might want to look at the HD 6850 too. An overclocked edition like MSI's Cyclone Power Edition is only £141.36 at Ebuyer.

It takes two slots....

I'd have thought it's in the name, it's also shown in the picture. 90% of 8800GT's are single slot.

does that mean that the card may not fit then?

just look in your case, if you have a free slot below your 8800GT then you're in business. if not, can you move or lose whatever card is there?
