Anyone got any ideas and were we could get them from,he was only 28 so we would rather not just buy a vase-really we want something a bit youthful

Sorry about the subject I know its not the most cheerful of subjects

Can't suggest anything permanent by a grave I'm afraid. Things I left for my children were vandalised/stolen, and I found it unbearable. I can suggest something more lasting, like a tree planted in his memory, but obviously not at the gravesite. I think you can get in touch with your local council, and find out if/where you can donate a tree and have a dedication 'ceremony' for it. Otherwise, maybe in his parent's garden...

Some people I know also make it a permanent diary entry on the same day every year to meet up and remember them, in whatever way suits - drinking/dinner/fishing etc. Same day every year, no matter what. It's kind of nice that the loss of one man has kept some friends, who would otherwise have grown apart into pretty random people, together.

make sure you get in touch with the council first.sad i know, but most dont allow you to put anything extra there,as can make their job difficult.grass cutting etc.anything removable will get stolen.i have sometimes bought sentimental things and attatched them with wire around base of headstone, but unfortunately everything gets rain/sun damaged.some nice ideas above ^^^^^^ and sorry for your loss x

I'm sorry about your loss and find it very sad that there are people who will steal things left by loved ones at gravesites but unfortunately it does happen.
You could do something like name a star after him so he'll always be there especially on nights out with the boys - just look up and he'll be with you.

What about a buying a bench and getting it engraved? I did this for someone I knew who was an umpire at my local cricket club. It gets a lot of use and everyone, who knew him, loves it.

^^^ Obviously I don't mean put the bench on the grave but somewhere you could all enjoy it x

its very hard to get anything that stays looking nice really,i know they do vases with names on such as friend etc
we have one on our sons grave and i buy the artificial flowers they seem to last well in the bad weather
not sure what else to suggest sorry

I would go for the bench idea or something along those lines.

It is really upsetting and bewildering how people can steal flowers, teddies, any type of ornament left at a grave for a loved one. One of the things that properly annoys me.
