Looking at getting a new camera.

Have seen one on a site but the reviews about the site says they sell grey imports from Japan..

What exactly are Grey Imports.

The camera i'm after is a Nikon which presumably is a Japanese company so does it matter that much if it come from there.

You just need to check what the warranty is and will it be honoured in the UK. I have bought a number of grey imports, and never had a problem, but saved a packet.

What does Gray Imports mean exactly??

What Nikon is it mate ?

You can get the likes of a Cannon 550D for £100 less if you import it in. Over in Japan it's called a Kiss X4 & on the US it's a T2i.

All exactly the same, but the imports are around £100 less. I was thinking about this last week, but decided against it as you won't get any manufacturers warranty & if you get caught at customs you'll end up paying a similar amount.

If you buy a Nikon in the UK, you can claim Quidco/Topcashback (4%ish) & you can claim £40 back from Nikon at the minute.

Weigh it up carefully

Its the D700 i'm after. Most places are doing it £1850.

Have found someone doing it for £1600. Its shipped from the UK so no problem with customs.

Only the Warranty issue then (unless it's a Euro model ??). If it's from am EU country, you'll get your warranty. It's it's from Japan or the US, then you'll be stuck.

Nice camera by the way :D
