Hi, i have only ever used Groupon once and that was to use Lovefilm. However i have seen a few holidays that i am interested in. Has anyone purchased a holiday through Groupon before and are they ok to use? How does it work? do you buy a 'voucher' and then redeem it on the holiday website? Any examples would be fab. thanks

They use a travel agent that arranges the deal, so you basically purchase the deal and then speak to the agent to use on the available dates prior to the expiry date.

I have seen a few good deals as well for holidays but they're not as great as you think.
Have a read on review sites for the hotels that is part of the offer (they're generally not very good) and also have a look around yourself for deals.

In my experience, I've always been able to find much cheaper holidays within 5 minutes, leaving me with more money to spend on upgrading the hotel or spending money.

They are fine so long as you are aware you may find the 5* hotel is in fact a tent in some farmers muddy cowfield, and your transfer is by rickshaw.

Groupon have some good deals for holidays, as do KGB deals. If you want any easier way to find cheap deals without searching around I would recommend Travelzoo, they advertise cheap deals that you buy directly from the seller rather than having to buy vouchers.

Issue on this site and others is that the people who shout and moan are the few with bad experiences. Everyone else is quiet and contented.....so dont be put off!

I have bought 3 packages from groupon and they were always cheaper than other sites or going direct. All were at very high quality hotels.

That can be the case but after the high commission structure, it's quite difficult to offer the best prices.

If the OP lets me know which deal they like in particular, I will most likely find the same package at a better price within 5 minutes of looking around..

He's right you know!

Looked at 3 different holidays advertised on these multi-buying sites recently, took me a very short time to find the same for cheaper myself.

Definitely, I realised this last summer, when I thought I saw a great deal to Sharm El Sheikh, only to find it at a good few hundred cheaper between us at a much better better hotel and with the money we saved, we went on 7 excursions each and it was still cheaper

Since then, my mates have asked me to find them better holidays but I find TravelZoo is a lot more competitive than Groupon because they charge less if you want a deal without looking around yourself but it's very easy to create your own package.
