GTA IV delayed!!

The release date for GTA IV has been pushed back until at least April 2008, possibly May.

Take-Two is reducing its fiscal 2007 guidance primarily to reflect the movement of the launch of Grand Theft Auto IV for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system and the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from the fourth quarter of fiscal 2007 to fiscal 2008, due to additional development time required to complete the title. The title is now planned for release in the Companys second quarter of fiscal 2008.

Why, you ask?

Strauss Zelnick, Chairman of Take-Two, stated, With Grand Theft Auto IV, Rockstar is setting a new standard for next generation video games. Certain elements of development proved to be more time-intensive than expected, especially given the commitment for a simultaneous release on two very different platforms. We all recognize that perfecting the game is vital and I can assure everyone it will be worth the wait. We owe it to the games millions of fans, to our dedicated development team, and to our shareholders to make sure that Grand Theft Auto IV is a groundbreaking gaming experience that takes maximum advantage of next generation technology.

Sam Houser, Founder and Executive Producer of Rockstar Games, added, "The new consoles are allowing us to create the Grand Theft Auto game we always dreamed about. Every aspect of the game and its design has been completely transformed. The game is huge and is pushing the hardware platforms to their absolute limits. The top engineers from Sony and Microsoft are working closely with the team in Edinburgh right now, helping us to fully leverage the power of both platforms. As always, our goal is to surpass even the wildest expectations of the games fans, and to create the ultimate high definition video game experience."

Leaves me more time to buy a ps3 :)
#2
I'll have a PS3 by then, but I'll still buy it on 360. Unless by that time Sony have managed to get there hands on some R* exclusive content.

nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
#4
Wonder if they'll be a demo realised earlier?
#5
I'm 99% sure that they won't release a demo. Ever.

They've never released a demo for a GTA.
(Except GTA2 which gave you a 60 minute timer. Which was later hacked so you could pretty much complete the game)

Well its 18+ which would be hard to regulate, Would be nice to play a demo and keep people happy though!
#7
I suppose in a way it's better. Now it will avoid being overshadowed by games like Halo 3.
#8
oh well im still buying it for pro 7
#9
I'm not getting a PS3 until Feb so it's not going to be so bad for me. They're doing it to make the game better so I suppose it's a good thing, GTA IV should be great. I want Pro Evo 7 more though, I can't wait to play it on the PS3!
