Its a new Austrian prison. I expect they have a queue at the door to get in ;)

Can't believe there doesnt seem to be a 360 or PS3 in sight! Disgusting - I might give Amnesty International a ring.

Do they have family weekend discounts? I need a holiday for this Bank Holiday Weekend!

Maybe not. I've just noticed the PINK furniture

Liked this quote.

Hell, I live just a few kilometers from the border and I’m seriously considering heading over there this weekend and doing some serious damage. What’s the worst that can happen? Either I come back with a new kick-ass flat-screen television or they send me to some place like the Justice Center Leoben and I get a few months of all-inclusive paid vacation. It’s win-win!
#20
Looks nice, i might just pop in for a short stay!!

The daily star has reported it's the new big brother house!

you're not far wrong. A distant mate of mine who regularly does service at her majesty's pleasure was trying hard to get banged up for last Christmas as he said its better in than out over that period and his mates inside had just taken a large delivery! Mind you, he does live illegally in a caravan so I guess anything is better than that.

He eventually got 3 months in January for GBH.

He got released after 5 weeks of a 12 week sentence as they needed the room (he scarred someone for life on their face). They paid him £120 for the early release for board & lodging!

What a joke justice has become!

Statement of Purpose

Her Majesty's Prison Service serves the public by keeping in custody those committed by the courts. Our duty is to look after them with humanity and help them lead law-abiding and useful lives in custody and after release.

The hardest sentence is never the one served by the offender its by the offenders family and loved ones.

We should turn all our prisons into military style prisons...

Only 3% re-offend when they leave the military prison at Colchester...
#33
Remind me of an article I read a few mths or so back, some prison in India, they didn't want to leave cos it was so good for them, they liked the meals regular 3 times a day etc.
However it wasn't as swish as this place, damn.
#34
Looks like someone didnt want to leave!

prison imo should be a 12hr shift of HARD meaningless labour, EVERY DAY eg smashing rocks with hammers or moving piles of leaves around etc. Coupled with VERY basic foods, ie plain pasta or rice, and water only to drink, the cell should have no tv or even access to a tv in the whole prison come to think of it, its an absolute joke i swear ,and this country is in so much trouble because people are not afraid to goto jail therefore how the hell are they gonna be deterred from a crime??? The way the system is heading in this country i reckon we will see vigilante groups forming to tackle yobs and anti social behaviour as the police and prison system is useless, and i for one will be bang in the middle of one of them groups :-D

i urge anyone who agrees with this to vote conservative and get labour out of power, i aint normally into politics etc but will be making my vote count from now on, tories want us out of the EU, and that will mean we get rid of RIDICULOUS human rights laws that seem to protect scum of the earth from any form of punishment, am wound up now.........breathe in aaaaaaaaaaaaand relax!

to be fair, I'd wager the types of crimes and prisoners are a lot different to those in a normal prison.

So like the system they have in some states in America you mean?
Crime is higher in America, so what makes you think that would work?
The jails here with the lowest re-offending rates are the ones that seem the softest from the outside, ie Grendon, Kirklevington to name two examples.

lowering the percentage of re-offenders is obviously one of the major aims of prison, but what about justice for those affected. if you were unfortunate enough to be in a family that lost a relative due to, say, a stabbing, would you feel justice had been done when the guilty party gets sent to such an impressive prison? knowing they have 10 years playing basketball, going to the shiny modern gym and watching Sky TV would be awful.

You do know that isn't a UK prison don't you? And prisons in the UK are nothing like that?

Justice is very hard to balance, and in an ideal world you would have different prisons for different offenders (which should happen here but in reality doesn't properly). For example, most lifers don't re-offend. Breaking rocks 12 hours a day would be a punishment and as they probably won't re-offend won't make much difference.
Some 18 year old locked up for shoplifting to fund his drug habit needs treating differently to a solicitor locked up for VAT fraud.

And i bet the offenders from the said hard prisons you mention dont re-offend as easy as the rest of the prisons. And surely you are not defending the fact that prisoners should be punished harder?

Giving prisoners a regime like you suggest would generally be used for the worse offenders, people who then receive such regime would then be released as bitter individuals more likely to seek revenge on the society that has done this to them, why dont youy just go the whole hog and say execute anyone who commits any type of crime:whistling:

Prison plays with your head mate, its not so cushy as you imagine it to be, its not all tv's and fun, they are nasty dirty foul smelling places to come out unscathed by the experience you need to keep hold of your mind, prison suicide rates are going up thats for sure.
The prison system has also inadvertantly created heroin addicts by introducing drug testing as heroin is out of our sytem in 2 days as a rule whereas cannabis takes upto 28 days. People who before smoked cannabis inside went on to to take heroin instead as the chances of getting a negative result where higher, they thought they could handle a bit here and a bit there but heroin grips people one hit is never enough and now we have smack heads roaming the streets robbing people, whereas before people would have a joint and be chilled.

So the end result is prisons increasing their own prison population!
