Guide: How to get HUKD looking good
ryoooh, posted 4 years, 5 months agoGo to the 'Customise' link near the top right of the site just below the search box.
To build your front page to be the same as before the site was changed, click the drop down box and select 'Deals' then click the green button with a white cross in.
Do the same for 'Vouchers' and 'Freebies' from the drop down box. You now have Deals, Vouchers, and Freebies in your custom tab. Add even more or even less options, depending on what you like to normally see.
You can also select categories of deals you want to see from the drop down box, as well as merchant and tag customisations, however this is quite specific and i would advise against doing this for the time being.
Next: set your filtering preferences, which is quite self explanatory. You can also set a temperature threshold and i have chosen to use 30. The lower you set it the more colder deals you will have to view, which may not be a bad thing depending on how you deal hunt.
Next: select 'Detailed View' and then sort by 'Hot'. This selection will give you the exact look of the old front page, except it's more efficient as it is sorted by when things become hot, not by when theyre actually posted.
Check the Email alerts box if you want to make use of that feature.
Then click Save.
The 'Custom' tab is now your new front page and main deal finding tool.
Finally: go into one of the forums and select 'text only' view. This will give you the classic forum layout for the whole site.
Everytime you want to go back to the front page simply click your 'Custom' tab and all settings will revert to your custom settings (i.e. the old front page). Navigate back to the forum using the new horizontal navigation bars and it will automatically go back to text only forum view, perfect for viewing lots of topics just like before.
I hope this helps anybody who is struggling still.

This was something I was struggling with and to be honest basically ignored.
Now you have written it down so plainly and consicely it does make sense.
Perhaps you should stick on a uniform and become an official HUKD guide !

Thank you that is what is needed a step by step walk through well in my case anyhow. Sorry cant rate this as I have no scales for you and no hot tab

Calmseas you can't actually rate this thread because it's not a hot deal.
You can however leave REP for the OP (ryoooh) by clicking on the middlr tab to the left of their avatar. (the one that looks like a cloud)
Unfortunately though there is a bug in the rep box at the moment as it overlays the post. It's not that hard however to work out what to do and it does work when you click on "add to reputation"

I only have 2 icons the one that tells me he is offline and the report him button no cloud or scales
All i need now is some new retinas. :giggle:
There is no rep icon for the first post in a thread but you can rep ryoooh using one of his other posts in this thread.

I give up with this site it is doing my head in.
Has this information been put into the FAQ yet?
as i understand the new default home page is ALL > Deals ...would it be possible to just default the home page to the mixture of deals vouchers and freebies, and automatically set the rest of the forum to text only view....as this seems to be why people are moaning. I think it's a case of too much customisation too early. If you default it to exactly how it used to work, and then just let people learn how to change their defaults i think the anger might subside.
