Guitar hero 360 problem

How come when i try to play guitar hero 5 and metalica it assigns me to the mic? and wont let me choose guitar? am i missing something? i am trying to use my controller as the guitar maybe thats the prob? if so any way of using the controller as the guitar?

I may be wrong but I don think you can use the pad as a git from world tour onwards

Correct.

The pad is used in conjunction with the mic (so you can navigate the menus) only. You can't use the pad as a 'guitar'.
