GUITAR HERO 4 NEWS ALERT - gets song creation, multiple instruments

Yep you read it right (article from CVG)

Neversoft's Guitar Hero IV will feature custom song creation and multiple instruments when it launches later on this year, says a US mag report.

According to Shacknews, the latest issue of Game Informer has spilled the first details on Guitar Hero 4. The forth title in the series will expand the musical peripheral offerings to include drum and vocal gameplay, in addition to bass and guitar.

he song creation process is a little unclear, but it sounds like the functionality will allow players to take the existing songs and modify the heck out of everything but the vocals. So you CAN put a thirty minute guitar solo in Hotel California, if you so desire.

You'll also be able to upload it and even desire your own record sleeve. We're expecting something akin to My SingStar Online for this.

Confirmed bands so far consist of Van Halen, The Eagles, Linkin Park and Sublime. All tracks will be master tracks provided by the respective record labels.

Whether or not Rock Band peripherals will be compatible with GHIV is currently unknown.

Made my day :D

Thats great thanks, our sons will be really looking forward to ME buying it for them. They love Guitar hero and we love most of the tracks

They're not really trying to compete - they started off as the same company. Harmonix made Guitar Hero, then went on to make Rock Band. Of course greedy publishers Activision wanted to milk the Guitar Hero brand name, so they hired Neversoft to make Guitar Hero 3. But then I don't think it's Activision that publish Rock Band so, yeah, they probably will really push Neversoft to compete with GHIV. It would be a dumb move to make the instruments incompatible though - you'd have more people buying the game if they already had the hardware to play it.

It's already known it will cost MORE than Rockband

Gamestop is listing the bundle at $189.99 for the Xbox 360 and PS3 $20 more than Rock Band's $169.99 retail price. (Don't forget that's Dollars and USA pricing).

Rockband is starting to look like a good deal...

I got Rock Band yesterday, in my opinion it's far better than GH3, has a nicer feel to it and it just feels like a more complete experience such as the crowd singing along etc. Now all I need to do is find how to get the money together for the drums!

So can you add songs to the ones on the discs in GH3 or is that all you are stuck with? I was tempted to get it from Zavvi for £45, but the thought of those being the only songs has put me off. (its for the kids BTW not me!!!)

avoid rock band at all costs

has many faults with it, my microphone doesn't work and the guitar feels like a cheap £land kids guitar. the drums are okish but well not worth £70 seperately. i'd say £30 seperate. i feel like i've been robbed
#17
Ahh I see :( Suppose I'll find out if it's the same for all of them when I get the instruments hopefully next week. Using my GH2 controller at the moment :)

I don't see why they wouldn't take it back, as it's faulty it is within your rights to take it back and get an exchange or refund
