First claim is usually not too much of a problem unless you're very young (17 or 18) or you caused a lot of expensive damage to someone or something else.

Your existing policy should be transferable unless, for some reason your insurance company decides to cancel it. You may need to shop around a bit at renewal.

I came round a corner and the traffic had stopped, cue brakes, skids (in my pants too), smash, air bag etc

you could claim for whiplash, but you will be claiming off your policy, you could get between £3000 and £6000 and they will payout for your car, not much though, but with the whiplash claim you can buy a nic ecar.
your insurance will probably go up over £1000 now.

Thanks,

well the whiplash is mild, i have a bit of an ache in my neck and for some reason my jaw hurts :S

You've got two black eyes and a bloody mouth, probably from the air bag.

Sorry to hear that, still good job you + others are ok. Hopefully won't impact your insurance too much - expect to pay a bit more, but not the end of the world! :)

Don't think you can claim for injury off your own insurance (even if you have comprehensive), unless you 've got seperate personal acident cover.

Yeah there were 4 in the car so i am just happy were all ok.

It was my first year being on my own policy so i guess that's why its so high.

It was a hell of a day, whilst we were waiting for recovery to come and take my car away a car pulled out of the junction and knocked a guy off his motorbike, luckily he wasn't hurt

The car was only £800, they would have to re-do the air bag, front driverside panel, the wheel snapped something somewhere.

I hate the way some of us behave like Americans nowadays.

Just to clear something up. You cannot claim for personal injusry if the accident was your fault.

If you could, I imagine we would see quite a few people intentionally crashing to put a claim in for whiplash.

However, if any of your mates in the car were injured, they can claim against your insurance.
