it has to be a permanent dye and i will probably end up using 2 dyes as my hairs so thick
tried a fair few out but what do you use and recommend?

if your hair is thick and longer than shoulder length you should use 2 boxes of home colour

I have the same problem as you, my hair is very thick and dyes don't seem to be as permanent on me as they do on other people.
I use Live XXL, I have to get two boxes, mostly because i love the funky colours, but also it covers my grey hairs very well.:whistling:

L'oreal colour experte covers my grey really well and lasts. Would be rather expensive if you need 2 boxes though. I used to use Garnier Nutrisse but the last time this washed out really quickly.

I use this too. I don't have thick hair, but it's long so use two boxes also as it gives better coverage.

my mum uses nice and easy, she has thick hair too and a fair bit of grey (so do i at 24, thanx mum and dad for your excellent genes) she always has good coverage, just has to redo when they roots come through
i use live xxl, i find the red tones wash out too quick, but my sister uses the brown colours and they always look good

only 21 so no grays....
Last time I used garnier nutrisse....DONT DO IT!!! was meant to be a dark red shade (brown/red). When I dyes it it went black, with kinda weird ORANGE highlights!!!! I was not impressed....after one wash the orange faded and left it practically black, however, any towel I used on my hair for almost 2 weeks had pink staining from the dye....completely useless IMO!!!!
Time before that I used Perfect10 (I think....the one with the comb type applicator thing) This went to a nice colour, was the colour as advertised....but when dying the solution stunk! and as I was doing it myself (Head hung over the bath style) the fumes from it got me coughing and I couldnt stop! The fumes were seriously stinging my eyes too! But after the procedure it was fine :)

before then I went to salons

I think I have used nearly every dye known to man lol

I use Schwarzkopf(Live XXL is one of their brands too) as I find it quite rich in pigment,so therefore longer lasting.

XXL is not really recommended for grey coverage, but if you only have a few then it won't be a problem.Unfortunately for me my greys are now multiplying on an hourly basis:oops: so I have changed to Vital Colors(schwartzkopf) as it covers them better. What is also fantastic is that they are available for about £3 from Home Bargains/B&M.....much cheaper than buying from Boots and far less than the overrated(imo) L'Oreal.

From chatting to my hairdresser the other week,he tld me that Schwartkopf were bought out by a Chinese company a few years back, this may explain the better pigments as hair is darker and coarser in the east so needs better pigments.

Hi, loreal excel 10 and excellence creme is v good. Keep in mind with the excel 10 to go a shade lighter as it does come out a bit darker than the guide :)

woohoooo finally braved the snow and popped to tescos, not sure if its nationwide or just our local clearing out but the loreal excel 10 dyes were reduced to £2 each! they had a white "managers special" price sticker on

needless to say i stocked up and can afford to use 2 packs lol

the ones on the shelf opposite the reduced ones were £6 something each

not sure if theyre discontinued colours or something,i got the dark brown
