Hair Dyeing Woes HELP :-(

Ok here goes, I've been dyeing my own hair lately with Nice and Easy foam in dark blonde colour, I've been very happy with the colour. A mate gave me a light brown one and I thought I'll use it up surely it wont be much different to dark blonde. Omg how wrong could I be? my hair is soooooooo dark now and my tanned face looks washed out with this colour.

Here's what I'm thinking if I use my usual dark blonde one again will it make my hair lighter? I'm dreading using it incase I turn orange.

I coloured my hair on Saturday and have been washing it twice daily to try and see if it would lighten but no luck. Please help me :-(

Sorry not sure about actual answer to your question.

I don't think it would work. You would need to use a prelightener I think to get the darker dye to lift afaik. Tbh though if I need to go lighter I always go to the hairdresser it's too easy to mess it up

I left it on 45 minutes and I had it all over my shoulders, forehead and ears too, I managed to scrub it off yesterday X)

Try washing your hair a couple of times with fairy liquid, this definately helps! Or if you have a B&M store they sell colour restorer (next to the hair dyes) this will sort it out.

B&M sell colour removers, never tried them so dont know if they work, but I wouldnt just whack on the blonde, depending on the tones in the brown it could end up disasterous.

Brilliant idea thanks, I'll go check that out.

I just spoke to someone and they said I left it on far too long and the only way to go lighter safely is to go to the hairdressers or sitting in the sun will help too. So much for saving money lol. Thanks everyone xx.

My sister did a similiar thing, she just used the colour she wanted again and it was fine, the dyes didn't mix ;)

Will it make my hair condition dry? What colour does it go back to, is it my natural or the colour of the last dye I used? Thanks for your help :3

Lovehearts it should take you back to the lighter colour you were before, it contains no bleach and leaves hair in really nice condition. You just have to remember to follow the instructions to the letter and rinse for AGES! trust me it does work :) it's by Scott Cornwall. I'd get the extra strength one just to be on the safe side :)

No probs LH :) there's reviews of it on the boots website btw and I've used it a couple of times when I've dyed my hair too dark and it's always worked

Well that's the thing the instructions are not that thorough, I told the lady the same on the phone so she made a note about it :p

Just had a look at the Colour B4 and it sounds really good! If that doesn't work you could use a lightener and then a dye the colour you want it to go.

Vosene is good for stripping colour....

head and shoulders also known for stripping colours

Try Head and Shoulders... it is the WORST shampoo ever as it strips your hair of colour. My hairdresser used to be "the hairdresser" that advertised H&S but he's always telling his clients to use it to get rid of colour and never to actually wash your hair with!
Edit: Just noticed the above post!

Just use a pre lightner, then go over the top with your normal colour.
You don't have to strip your hair at all.

As for head and shoulders, it doesn't strip your hair, it's just a stronger shampoo so will make your dye fade quicker than other shampoos but that's after about 20 washes so not an instant stripper at all

£12.25 for ColourB4 in Boots, then you wanting it back to blonde, time you pay for that, you might aswell go to a salon and get it done proper for a bit more. They sometimes have a day in the week that colour is discounted.

I will be doing it tomorrow so I can get the best results by sitting in the sun with it on and yes I'll do before and after photos but only from the back of my head X)

I live in London so salons are a ripoff here unless you go to one of them old granny salons for a blue rinse :p

Fair enough. I know a few mths back I paid about £35 for my hair cut, styled, colour lifter ( was black ) and then I had it dyed the same colour Cheryl Cole had it,on a discounted day.

I can't be doing with the messing about these days at home and prefer to go to a salon.

I had a very similar experience with Nice n Easy foam. I used the medium golden blonde and it went ginger. Bloody horrible. If you go here http://www.myfoamparty.com/ and go to the chat section you will see some advice and people with the same issues.
I'd rather it went dark brown than ginger, so, put it this way, it could have been worse :p

I've been poorly and in and out of hospital so haven't done anything, I just keep on ignoring it - if you don't look at it then out of sight out of mind kind of thing.
I have just booked a Groupon deal for half head of highlights, redken treatment, cut and blow dry for £23 so I am hoping that will improve the situation!
I will say one thing though, that it really is permanent. The colour is not really fading!

Have you tried phoning the number on the side of the box? The careline number is: 0800 181184, you might get some helpful advice and tip there, as well as the link I gave you above.

When I used it it was the first time I had ever dyed my hair at home, I had always had highlights or whatever at the hairdressers, I was really disappointed and after all the other bad reviews I think the product is rather rubbish and taken to market before sufficient testing had been done.

You could try washing it with lemon juice and then sitting in the sun. That's meant to lighten it and I think possibly strips dye a little
