I got a fish cake yesterday from the chip shop and started eating it, then got to a piece and underneath there was a hair, it didn't look like a normal hair it looked like a pubic hair, it made me sick, anyway I want to know does anyone know how I report them, I have kept the piece of fish cake and the hair, incase it is needed as proof or anything.

Don't worry its quite common because after they have prepared all the fish for frying in batter they sweep the floor and work surfaces for bits to put in the fishcakes so the odd foreign item does get in I'm afraid.

I found a hairball stuck in a pizza once, like someone had pulled a wad out of a brush and pushed it into the cheese.

My grandmother once found a screw in a takeaway curry and a fair few years ago I bit into a steak pie from a local bakers (now closed) and found a plastic bag.

local environmental health at the council if you really want to complain to someone

If you are being serious then you could report them to environmental health at your local council BUT bear in mind that the hair may have already been in the fishcake when it was supplied to the fish & chip shop so they (the chip shop) may not be to blame....
#17
The hair wasn't in the fish cake it was on the bottom of the fishcake, so I am assuming that they went the loo, wiped, didn't wash hands then handled the fishcake.

Thanks I will get intouch with Environmental Health and see what happens.

What specifically is it that distinguishes this as a pube? Are you insinuating that the person making your fishcake plucked one from their nethers while preparing your fishcake?

EDIT: I see you have explained it while I typed this post. That's a far-fetched theory to be quite honest. One things for sure, make your complaint and you'll probably find deliberately plucked pubes in all your food from now on :)

Does it matter what type of hair it is,it's disgusting.

As if the OP would want to go back there anyway so they are right to complain,it's rank.

It is the only explanation I can think of, and I have email environmental health, and I wont be getting food from that chip shop anymore.

i hate the word PUBE

Surely you could just go and have a word with the chip shop? For a start the evidence of a loose hair and a piece of fishcake isn't likely to condemn them... It's just a hair - unless you are an expert how do you know it is pubic? Could be from arm, hand, beard, chest, head etc etc.

It is unpleasant, but not worthy of a report. If reported, it will go nowhere. It may have made you feel sick, but it's not exactly dangerous or particularly unhygienic.

I'd go back to the chip shop with the hair and carry out an id parade

just seen this : http://www.hotukdeals.com/competitions/win-a-hair-removal-device/739375

A competition for a hair removal device . Sounds like it might come in handy .

no, joke I know , finding foreign objects in your meals ........................might be hard to prove it actually came from the chip shop if you took it back .

OP hasn't yet explained why she was buying a cake for her fish - was it his birthday?

Good luck with this one - the issue is trying to prove the hair was in the wrapper when they gave it to you, and that you didn't add it there to make a malicious complaint.

If it were inside the fish cake, there are ways it can be analysed that can help establish this, but outwith the fish cake = no chance.

Want me to cook you dinner? :D

Seriously though, it's nowhere near dangerous, and a single loose hair isn't signs of extremely poor hygiene. There probably much worse contamination done when the fishcake is prepared at the factory level that you don't even know about... it is minced fish after all.

I know at first the story is funny yeah, very funny pube in fish cake, but seriously if I got anything that resembled a pubic hair in something that I was eating from a shop supplying food to the public I would go through them for a shortcut.

Its all very funny and easy to say its no big deal, but what if there is someone working there that thinks its funny to put pubes in fish cakes.

And I don't get the argument that it is maybe a nose hair, chest hair, ear hair whatever, maybe it is indeed a pube, you have every right to be annoyed and complain.

Pube's a pube no matter what way you eat it
[mod][Moderator]#38
Sue them, you've definately got them by the short and curly's

Its just extra protein.
