Can any hairdressers out there please give some advice, I went to a new hairdressers on saturday to have my hair cut, when the lady said there you go I looked in the morror and noticed she had not done what I had asked for and on top of that one side was much longer than the other, so I said I wanted some layers put in and this side is longer then this side, anyway she made such a hash job of trying to put layers in and trying to match the two sides I told her to stop as it didnt want ot any shorter, I asked for a below the chin bob and some parts sit above my ears, I paid and the second I left I burst in to tears, I got home and have spent all weekend trying to different things with it and it so short and so many different lengths there is nothing I can do, it looks like there are chunks missing in places. I dont know what to do now and also I am really annoyed I paid for it, but I was so close to tears I just wanted to get out of there.

Go back, speak to the salon owner and ask a head stylist to fix your hair. They should be pretty obliging if they want to keep trading.

Sorry to hear about your experience.

I'm not a hairdresser, but if it were me, I'd be straight round there tomorrow asking for a refund and the salon manager to firstly make a complaint about the original stylist clearly not being up to the job as she couldn't even put layers in your hair, and secondly asking for a full refund.

If the manager is as useless as the stylist and refusing to put the matter right, I'd make sure I took the matter further (is it trading standards, not sure at all about that, sorry) and make sure photos were taken as proof of the bad job she did on your hair.

I hope it doesn't come to that though and the manager can do something with your hair that you're happy with.

yea as above, or the missus said said (she is a hairdresser) go there and get them to pay for a visit to another salon who can sort your hair to a standard you are happy with, was the person who cut your hair a junior ?

Ah totally understand as I had the same thing last year.

From home I phoned the salon and and asked to speak to the manager. She suggested I come back and she would personally make good of it. She did and I was happy with the cut in the end, but she didn't offer any money back and it cost me more in petrol and parking to go back, so I wasn't too impressed and have never been back.

If I were you I'd get someone senior at the salon to sort your hair and make sure they know how much distress the first cut caused you, maybe you'll be luckier than me.

I'd also suggest getting a recomendation for a good HD from a friend for next time.

Hope it all works out x

No she wasnt a junior, but she kept shaking and dropping her brushes and at one point almost fell over.

Sounds like a hairmare! You must be tearful.

i'm a hairdresser...
i would phone the salon n tell the manager, see what she says..
but i wouldn't go back, go somewhere else, ask for reccomendations from friends..
hope someone can put it right for you..
p.s Always take a picture of how you would like your hair, then the stylist can talk it through with you..

I would be absolutely furious with them and I'd be demanding my money back. If you didn't ask for short hair and shockingly cut layers, why on earth should you pay for it, especially when after it's been tidied up, you'll still have the short hair which isn't what you asked for in the first place.

if they are a proffesional salon, they should offer you a good will gesture
whether its your money back or products..
do you know if she was self-employed? eg. renting a chair from salon owner
if she is its up to her to re-imburse you..

I think she might have been self employed but i'm not sure. My boyfriend has offered to pay for me to go and have it cut somewhere else but I think the only way to make it any better would be to go really really short and that just wont suit my face

hope all works out good for you..
let us know how you get on..

Ok well I phoned this morning as was told to go back in and the manager re coloured and cut my hair, as she said the colour wasnt very good either, she couldnt apologise enough. She said some parts of my hair are so short there wasnt much she could do, she has made it look tidy and has said once it has grown in afew weeks I can go back again and she will cut and colour it again free of charge. Tahnks everyone for your help and advice. xxxx

Do you feel a bit happier now? I remember in the days of curly perms getting a perm and coming out with bits of my hair falling out in clumps, I went home and cried for days, it really knocks your confidence so good on ya for going back xxxx
#19
Yeah I feel much better, my other half just picked me up from work and said you seem much happier now. Its amazing what effect your hair can have on you. xx
