Hello,

I was just browsing the Windows 10 store on my PC. Noticed that Halo Wars 2 is up for pre order. I clicked on Halo Wars 2 Ultimate Edition to see what you get with it. Underneath where it says bundled with it says it comes with Halo Wars Definitive Edition.

The thing is underneath Halo Wars Definitive Edition is says free in small writing. So I clicked on Halo Wars Definitive Edition and it says purchase. So I clicked it and it now says I own it. I can't download it because it's not available until next month.

Checked on my XB1 (its a play anywhere title) and says unavailable until 23rd February. So yer looks like its a glitch and I hope this means I get the game for free. No big deal if I don't as am buying Halo Wars 2 anyhow.

Given it a go, thanks :)

It just says "Only available as part of a bundle." for me - no button/link to purchase. :(

Edit: ah, you have to use the Windows 10 Store app, not a standard browser - now it works! Cheers. :)

On the Windows store and not Xbox store right? I had to click through to the Halo Wars bundle first and then click on definitive edition in the little box below for it to work

Yeah, thanks for the clarification, I'd just realised that - see my edit. :)

Based on what? For a start, the game has no price on the store. I don't think that there's any need for concern over this. :)

Not got any payment method attached to my account so they can't take any money. Doubt they could try and take any money anyhow as it was advertised as free.

Cool but anyone received the code for the game?

In which case, the comments there are wrong :p

As mentioned in ocelot20's original post, the game won't be available to download/install until 23 February - this is just a redemption to add the game to your account in advance.

Game is not available to download yet. Once the pre download is live you should be able to download it via going to the halo wars page on the store app and download it.

No harm in trying but does say 'Works with' Halo Wars 2, which leads me to think that this particular version may only unlock if you have bought Halo Wars 2. The game is already available for Halo Wars 2 pre-orders, but isn't being released standalone until later in 2017 (as in not next month)

That's because it was a preorder. It's a common mistake from the Sky store people make where it shows as free for a preorder but it indeed charges you on release.

You need to do this with the Windows 10 "Store" app.

Two separate listings for this on the Windows store now. One is classified as 'Game' and one (this one) is classified as 'Add-On'. Pretty much confirms that we have only added the version that comes with Halo Wars 2 and won't be seeing the standalone version. Was worth a try though!
