halogen oven help

Hi Not sure if I'm asking this question in the right place but here goes:-
My regular oven is misbehaving and I really can't afford to replace it this close to christmas. I was thinking instead of buying an halogen oven.
My question is will a halogen oven cook a large turkey?
Thank you..

cant it be fixed? i mean it could be a service?

If if fits within the bowl yes, if not then you may want to look at buying something like just the crown.

There are 12 litre ones you can get extender rings for to gain a bit of extra height, obviously this doesnt increase the circumferance.

hi , you could join your local freecycle group if there is one in your area people give away allsorts for free good chance you can pickup a new cooker.

i dont know whats wrong with your oven but when mine was playing up it turned out to be a heating element that was really easy to change and it only cost £17 for a new element

I will look at having it serviced. Ive always fancied a halogen and this seemed like a good excuse. (_;)

A crown is a good idea - thank you.

Good idea though freecycle hasn't overly kicked off near hear yet.

I've read some good stuff about the halogens but dont personally know anyone who has used one.

I hope you don't mind me using your thread to ask a question.
Can anyone advise the differences between halogen ovens and slow cookers in terms of the food they produce?
I know one is quick and one is slower but interested in what they produce.

I have a 17 litre halogen oven and to be honest you would probably have to put the turkey on its end if it was huge but there are also shelves you can put in the oven to create more cooking space......

we have a halogen oven and use it nearly every day. At least my husband does as he's cooking mad. Never cooked a turkey but often do jacket spuds, tv dinners, bread rolls, pies, roast potatoes. Ours is a Jml, our second one as the first died after 14 months, bought it at Argos with a 3 yr warranty, but seen some really cheap ones in Wilkinsons the other day that look identical, in two sizes. There's a giant halogen oven thread on MSE, also Wooly, a slow cooker thread. The two are nothing alike as halogen is Hot heat like a grill, slow cooker is a wrap around lightbulb type heat, excellent for stews in our house.

We bought my OH's parents a halogen oven for christmas last year and they love it, hardly ever use their 'normal' oven now and its great for when they are at their caravan too
