I need suggestions for keeping my hamster entertained, we have got a bigger 3 story cage for her which she enjoys climbing up (then falling off) but she always wants to come out, chewing at the doors of the cage etc...

How do you keep your little friends happy? She goes in a ball occasionally but it's very noisy and we are worried about disturbing the neighbours (old house converted into 4 flats)

Nope we are in a 1st floor flat, there is no back garden and the front is basically a big drive

Is it worth picking up some plants for her to eat? We give her little bits of fruit sometimes (not too often, we don't want a chubby hamster)

toilet and kitchen roll tubes are great fun for them-they run through em and eventually rip em to shreds for bedding-hours of amusement for ham hams!

theres not that much information on the internet really, you may be best asking someone at a pet shop. it does mention that if you are buying plants they should be bought from shop incase its toxic. this is quite useful:

I used to let mine out a lot and would keep an eye on them,I would be careful to block up any areas with wires and make sure no remote controls about, they do like to chew the buttons. The male we had was very friendly,he would climb up the side of the sofa to come and see you and sit by you.
Not really keen on them balls, and when they do their droppings in them, they running in them balls and all the droppings going on them.not nice.
Sometimes they like the wheels, your cage got 1 them? My male used to run on the wheel but then he was quite long so started to run on it on the top rather than inside, and the female never ran on her wheel. Nope they never mated with each other and had babies,we would keep them seperated on days she would be on heat, the female as glands on side and they would get wet fur,and she have a scent about her,and we knew thats when they would like to mate so we seperated them on these days.
