Hanging on to technology (just)

I'm almost 40 and think I'm doing ok keeping up with technology, I've got laptop and know my way round it, Wii, Ipod,on facebook but can't get my head round twitter, what it is who it's for, how to use it and keep up to date etc...
Also don't understand Xbox 360 there seems a couple of different types and why do you need points or something with it, also why do they have big hard drives 120G etc..
I watch the gadget show and understand most of what they're on about Just don't want to get left behind the kids and become a techno phobe.

Anyone else the same?

Microsoft points are instead of cash, use them to buy games and movies etc You need the hard drive to store the downloaded games and movies and you can put your own movies, photos, music etc same as you can with a PS3.

Twitter allows you to follow people and see what they are upto, a lot of celebs use it, news channels, companies use it to promote deals. You can keep up with all of this stuff just by using Twitter trather than going to each website.

A bit like a social RSS feed if you know what an RSS feed is. :3

RSS is like a widget sort of thing if you like that keeps you updated on the latest things happening on sites and on the news and things.

I'm guessing you are using MS-Internet Explorer.

Put an emoticon inside a block (line) of text & it doesn't work, but put it at the end of your full comment & it does.

Another 'feature' of the re-designed site.

RSS is like a widget sort of thing if you like that keeps you updated on the latest things happening on sites and on the news and things.

Oh dear.

Really Simple Syndication is a method of relaying text (in what is called a “Feed”) so that it can be read & displayed in a standard format (by software referred to as an “RSS Reader”).

RSS is primarily used by web log (“blog”)-based sites to allow visitors to “subscribe” to a stream of information that is (or may be) updated regularly without having to return to the individual site.

Think of the stream of information as news headlines that would usually be seen in a “ticker” (scrolling text) display on buildings or on the foot of Sky News reports, or similar.

You may unsubscribe at any time, & re-subscribe at a later date, sometimes without losing sight of any of the content (depending on which “RSS Reader” you are using). The web site maintaining the RSS Feed can also “expire” the individual content (headlines) after a certain period has elapsed whether you have read it or not.

The RSS Feed at HotUKDeals.com can be used to deliver (filtered) details of specific products, or specific retailer ('merchant') deal listings to you designated "RSS Reader" software to avoid you having to search through the deal listings yourself.

Various versions of "RSS" exist (as they have been updated over time). Not all "RSS Feeders" support all versions available.

For someone who doesn't know what RSS is, a simple 2 line explanation would suffice. It's like Stephen Hawking trying to explain the ins and outs of how the universe works to a nobody like you.

No doubt you will have confused them with a level of detail, too difficult to understand for a novice.

Your post is a waste of time as usual.

You seem to be getting a lot more aggressive these days. A man as fortunate as you with your dreamy good looks shouldn't get like this over inferior looking men on the internet.

I just provided a response in English without using "thing" or "things" three times in one sentence.

My response was not for you. If you don't like my comments, don't read them.

(But thanks for seeing the error of your ways in the past by adopting my sign-off technique)
