Hard drive advice wanted please

my old hard drive got bust because 2 of the pins that go into the ide cable broke off,i have a bid on an exact same model on ebay,all i want is the circuit board.would it work or,are the circuit boards like car remotes unique,thanks.

Yes, swapping controller boards usually works fine. I have done that myself on a few occasions, when recovering data from faulty hard drives for customers.

If the firmware on the controller boards is drasticly different, the drive may appear as empty and you would need to run a data recovery software to bring your files back.

Ideally it will simply work as normal.
