Hi, I have recently tried to order a camera from Allied Direct as they were the cheapest option on the market. I have now been waiting for nearly a week and with no dispatch date. I have tried to contact the company via email and phone, my email seems to have been ignored and everytime I try to call them I get a continual loop of music (this has been for the last 24hrs or so). What really is bugging me they have taken the money out of my account. I would imagine that this info is a little late as you will have already have used the company, if not please beware!!

Just in case anyone is using this thread, my parcel arrived today.... many weeks after ordering, but it arrived. So it may be cheap, but you have to be able to wait a few weeks to get it.

Avoid them at all costs I ordered a printer shown as in stock, the money was taken from my account and I received an email stating it had been despatched. I rang after a week to be told it hadn't been despatched and was actually out of stock After cancelling the order 3 weeks later several more phone calls and emails I am still waiting for a refund. They are either incompetent ot uneconomical with the truth either way go to Staples or somebody else more reliable.

The only Direct thing about Allieds Direct is in the name and the fact they take your money "Direct" with no sign of when you will get the goods!! "IN STOCK", yeah right!!! If they had the item in stock it would of been winging its way to you. Use Amazon instead!! I'm going to wait 1 more week and if no luck I am going straight to my card company and get the money back through them.

Just had an email saying it has now been dispatched after contacting them by their premium rate number again. 0871 is a premium rate number which they can charge what they like to the customer, us. Not good. I will check with my phone bill when it comes through to see what it was charged and if necessary put a complaint in to OFCOM regarding Allieds Direct. I think the reason why they do not answer their emails is they want you to phone their premium rate number. It seems like the savings in price soon get lost in expensive 0871 phone calls. In future I will be ordering from companies like EBuyer.com, Scan.co.uk, Amazon.co.uk.

0871 isn't premium rate.

Oh yeah??

Check it out: http://business.bt.com/phone-services/08-and-09-numbers/0871/
"You choose the rate you want customers to pay" - That statement says it all.

Maximum call costs that can be charged is 10p per minute plus a call set up fee. Not as much as 09xx numbers, but still a cheek when you could send emails for free. The fact you have to continually phone, when they ignore your emails, to chase an order is just plain poor customer service.

I am going to wait and see if my order does turn up in the next few days as they say it has shipped. Will keep everyone posted.

I think you are taking that too literally, i think the company can charge whatever they like up to 10p, so they can charge 5p or 6p. Its not BT saying you can charge whatever you like and rip off customers.

Anyways, how long you been waiting for your order? When was it placed, when was payment made.

Just to give us an insight :)

It was ordered a week ago showing 10 items in stock. Its still showing 10 items in stock. I've ordered many things from other companies like Scan.co.uk and they turn up within a couple of days, or even next day if you asked for next day. I Google mapped the company and it seems like a small shop in South London, North Cheam. There was no shop board showing the Allieds Direct name on any of the shops in the road (Google map taken in 2008, Bus Ad showing Sex in the City DVD release gives away date), so I guess it is a new business setup in the last year or two.

As I say I will keep everyone posted when I receive my order. With all the comments I've seen on the web, its not giving much confidence in the company.

Ordered an item in december, arrived just in time for xmas, but was faulty, sent it back at the beginning of Jan, and have had no reply to letters, phone calls or email. Have just tried their web site and it says closed due to maintainence !!!

Just had the package returned by the post office saying the company is no longer there..... Looks like they have gone bust.
