I have done this twice over past 5 years to get something free!! dont come across though that u r just chancing ur arm - as they are so used to people trying it on. Just be really nice and tell them u r gutted to be leaving but virgin have offered u a free box

Yes u can have the hd box - but no subscription but obviously wont get the hd channels

good luck!

Very unlikely they will offer you a free HD box unless your willing to pay £10 a month for the
HD pack.

No i wouldnt have thought so as you enter a new contract which includes the £10 for hd, Ive had HD for 12months now and just about to cancel the HD sub as personally we dont watch the HD channels only one really is sky 1 so not worth £10

No

you will automatically enter a new 12 month contract

I just tried to get something. Been out of contract for 3 years and pay £80 per month, customer for 10 years. They told me to go jump.

Only problem with the HD box without the HD subscription is 90% of the items it downloads for Anytime are the HD varieties and you can't watch them.

yes they can offer you something then you get your bill and see that you have paid for it, then they have no proof of your phone conversation.

Avoid, just go with Virgin Media

thats the thing i cant go with virgin they are not in my area all i have is sky but sky dont know that :p

I tried using Virgin as a bargaining tool but the operator said "Sorry sir but according to Virgin's website they don't serve your area"

I am sure they have heard every trick.

Dont BT have their own TV box and package to avoid sky? If they do and you are not in the virgin area thenuse them as an excuse.

We are with Virgin and just bargained a Half price HD plus box from them with no monthly fees :)

Not too long ago I was an engineer for a subcontractor.

A few customers in your positiion would say (If the had standard sky) that they were thinking of upgrading to Sky+, but want the bigger storage space and ability to go to hd after a few months then ask them if they would do a deal on a HD box.

If you have Sky+ tell them your box is playing up and that your looking to upgrade in the near future. explain your not going to pay for a call out fee and that if they do not replace your Sky+ with a HD you will leave.

When the engineer comes to visit with your HD Box see if he brings in a Brown Card Box with not printed logos or anything. This indicates its a referbished box. If it is, dont worry.

If you demand a new box sky will end up asking you to pay. Leave it a couple of days call up and says its faulty. Just say no signal or something similar. Their policy is to give you a new box if your ''new'' referb box becomes faulty within 30days of install.

hope this helps
