Has anyone attended a falconary experience day?

Have been wondering what to get my husband for his birthday and thought about a falconary experience day, was wondering if anyone had been on one of these and what they are like, and if they can recommend one in the westcountry ( Devon/Cornwall )
I bought him a ghost hunting experience at a haunted house a couple of years back and it was complete rubbish ( and not because we didn't encounter anything ), it was amatuerish, badly run and the high tech equipment turned out to be what looked like bent wire coathangers masquarading as dowsing rods.

I don't want the same shambles again lol, don't want to turn up for a falconary day to find a couple of stuffed owls and a tame budgie.

Ive been to the Hawk Conservency many times. Brilliant time everytime :)

Not paid for an experience though but went to the shows and the feeding. Really good day out.

I also went Falconing? with Harris Hawks in Scotland, went hunting rabbits. That was wicked cause you walked around in snow all day with a massive bird on ur arm, then hes goes off after the rabbit :)

Yes, I had a day at the Hawk Conservancy near Andover, just off the A303. I had a harris hawk called Jester on my arm for much of the day. It's a great place - well worth a visit. The experience was worth the money and a day at the Hawk Conservancy is always both entertaining and educational!

The experience was limited in terms of actual flying time, but I did learn quite a lot about the birds there. Once we'd weighed the birds (to make sure they would be hungry enough to actually want to fly!), we did get a chance to fly them, but it wasn't advanced stuff like flying to the lure. We also flew a barn owl indoors. In dead quiet you still can't hear it flying! Amazing birds. Also having a black vulture land on your arm is cool!

I've also done an owls by moonlight evening there. That's brilliant, seeing them at dusk and night. A lot of owls are bi-cuspid - ie fly at dawn and dusk - so that's the natural time for them to be hunting. You could consider spending a normal day there and then do the evening owls by moonlight as an experience. http://www.hawk-conservancy.org/Activities_and_Events/owlsbymoonlight.shtml

I believe that the Hawk Conservancy does more of the hunting activities in winter time, when the showgrounds are closed.

I have done that sort of thing before, not a full day though. I loved it and have had various family members who havent wanted to do it but have really enjoyed watching it
