I loved Lanzagrotty, nothing like what i was told hence the name change. We were at the top of cardiac hill, which was a massive killer walking up after a few shandys i can tell you! Go for it, i don't like dirty places like Greece, hated Salou, but didn't have a problem here. We went to a theme park which was fab (not rides, but shows etc) just looking for the name.

It would be helpful to know what resort it is in.

Playa Blanca.

Never been
Been to Turkey, Greece, Egypt, Tenerife, Menorca, Mayorca, and Menorca and Benidorm.
Never been to Lanzarote or Gran Canaria

I've been a couple of times and really enjoyed it there. It's also really easy to drive round with lots of places to go to if you don't like sitting on the beach for the whole holiday.

Shows how little you've travelled. If u want nights out etc then yes stay around the airport and to the beach but theres a place 30K across the other side of the island called Club La Santa. Its basically a sports resort which hosts alot of rugby teams, cycling teams, all sorts really. They have a weekly program and you can literally do any sport you want there all inclusive of the room price.

Well worth a look. Just got bk from there myself and loved it so much I bought a time share for a week there :)

Timenfire is very interesting also. The bus tour is an eye opener.

We went In May 2001 it was freezing and raining. We stayed in Playa Blanca and it was really quiet and there was very little to do. Wouldn't go back. Ever.

I went to Puerto del carmen 10 years ago.

It was ok nothing special.

I think it is meant to be the windiest of the Canary Islands. Gran Canaria would be what I recommend.

Yeh it is pretty windy. Got bk last week and weirdly it only had 4-6mph on average, and 25/6 degrees!

Totally agree gran canaria is pants went for a fortnight to puerto rico last year wanted to go home after a week there was nothing to do.

Been to lanzarote twice and going again in a month but never been to playa blanca. Nothing really chavy about the island.
Gran Canaria i have been 3 times, twice to playa del ingles (stunning beach), once puerto rico (not the best resort).

Obviously you have never ever been then :whistling:

the people who regularly call it lanzagrotty do so to stop others finding out how beautiful and unspoilt the Island is. Its nothing like the other horror hotspots like Ibiza, Majorca etc.

Cheaper too as its outside the EU and duty free. We go at least once a year (going again next sunday). No buildings above one storey are allowed on the island and they all have to be mainly white.

I struggle to believe that the canary islands were freezing in May (average temps are 25C). Playa Blanca has been tastefully & highly developed in the last few years.

I would never go without a car though as the roads are all practically brand new and empty. So much to see and do and island is very small. I have been to all the canary islands and its the best by far.

Puerto Del Carmen is the liveliest resort whilst costa teguise is one to avoid imho. It is a windy island but less so in Playa Blanca and within coastal resorts.

LOL - thought it was obvious I was referring to residential buildings in tourist resorts :whistling:

Lanzarote is actually really nice, if you want pubs/beaches you can, but it's actually really an amazing island.

Lots of very top athletes/sportsmen actually go there for the cycling as part of their fitness regime, Jenson Button went recently.

Gran Canaria on the other hand is a total doss hole, no other side to it, just crap and it's all littered about in stupid centres.

ignore the muppet. Anyone who has a face that ugly and posts it as their avatar obviously has serious mental health issues! :w00t:

i know but i had too :-D (isn't the norm 3 storeys high though?)

Yes you are quite correct. I meant 1 storey = ground floor and 1st floor but see from my pics that some also have a second floor too.

Take the "Blanket Tour" which is totally free and takes you to some great places off the beaten track and they also take you to see a blanket demonstration which is quite interesting but they do ask if you want to buy them which of course you really don't have to and they don't push you. They do a north and south island tour and we went on both which they didn't mind and just told us to go to pub while they did the blanket thing the next time and came to get us when they were ready to go again.... Great time was had by all.

Have great time:thumbsup:

Haven't been there for a few years but I'm wondering if "Lani" still owns half of the main strip on Puerto del carmen :-D

PS make sure you try the camel trip up Mount Timanfaya - thats one crazy experience.

yes he does although we go out of our way to avoid any of the 'Lanis' chain restaurants as food is highly processed and poor quality in comparison to independents.

I don't think he was referring to your evening down the gym sports, Lanzarote is great if your are into more extreme sports, or a higher level of fitness, due to the terrain and weather.

He was just pointing out, it's pretty judgemental to say somewhere is a dump, if you have never been there, well travelled or not, which at 18, you still have a lot to do
