Considering booking a hotel through them and I've heard you can get great prices by naming your own price but what do you generally bid compared to the expected price to pay?

No worries CoM...I quoted you as well but it didn't come out...I hate this laptop. lol

Do you know any sites that are similar to this, as Priceline state the rooms are for upto 2 adults?
You never know when you might have a mass orgy. :p

I used Priceline when I went to the States a couple of years back - got a 5* hotel in Ft Lauderdale for $68 - mega bargain! Also got a nice suite in Naples, Florida for $30 a night.

You may wanna look at the sites below for some guidance on what hotel you're likely to get when you bid - it takes fair amount of time to narrow them down, but worth it IMO.

It says that:
Once you enter details, and ask it to find a price, you’re committed. If it finds one, your card's automatically charged.
I guess you have to be as specific as you possibly can to avoid disappointment - living on the edge!!;-)

Interesting - they seem like proper bargains.

I've never heard of this 'bidding', before.
It strikes me that most of these are US. I doubt I'll be goiing there again but I'd be keen to know of any actual examples in Europe.
Hope you get what you want RFMan and feedback would be appreciated.

Apparantly, Hotwire offer this service too and you can select the amount of people to be within the accomodation, whereas Priceline only offer upto 2 people and then it's pot luck if the hotel can accomodate further for others.
