Has anyone bought from Alex1982?

I have and I think now that I have been ripped off.
£42 for a mobile phone I paid for on saturday evening.

Has anyone received anything from him that they bought?

I have filed a Dispute with Paypal but I doubt anything will come of it, apparently im not covered in any way so Paypal wont refund me on his behalf cause this isnt eBay.

Lee.

It's a real shame that some people feel the need to come here and rip people off :-(

(Well, it's a shame for anyone to be ripped off anywhere, but you probably know what I mean?)

:? Its part of what the mod's post - should be done as a minimum - regardless of wether you've known them on here for a year or whatever

1] Landline telephone number Make a CALL to check out the area code and number are correct too!
2] Name and address including postcode
3] Valid e-mail address [no disposable addresses such as @gmail or @yahoo for example].
4] Using PayPal then check out eBay feedback if there is any and make a small payment to and from each other to validate the PayPal e-mail address.
5] If possible, collect and pay for items in person
6] Only buy from Verified PayPal Members if possible.

That's put me off a trade - someone who has been here a long time refused to give a phone number. I fully understand it but think that people should be willing to abide by all the rules / guidelines when they trade here.

On a similar line, some traders seem to refuse to post pics saying things like "camera broken" / "will do later" / best one: "everyone knows what it looks like" ;-)

I disagree. Past satisfaction via feedback, and past history on the forum is usually adaquate. I've never been stung and i've never phoned anyone or given my phone no out. To tell the truth, i'd cancel the sale rather than give my ex-dir number out.
Use standard ebay savvy when buying and you shouldn't get caught out.

Never say NEVER and people get scammed on Ebay everyday they are worse than the scammers in my opinion.

Yes, there will unfortunately always be exceptions to the rule. I can only speak generally. I'm usually happy by looking back for past transactions, and a large post count.

@abacus, you're right. No doubt one day i'll eat my words. But that is the chance you take when buying anything online :)

I'm happy with the usual common sense checks as most scammers are only on here for a quick 'hit n run' scam. The average scammer won't invest six months of their life on here to scam someone out of £40. I do also look for people with several sales on the go at once, as that is also a good pinpointer to a potential scam.

He's sold a lot more than £40 worth of items?

That's right. And look at his join date ... Aug 2007. I wouldn't purchase anything from anyone without past history on here.
#25
Cheers Diodorus-siculus & ziggzag.
Anybody know what that is supposed to mean?
#26
Not sure what's going on with him, but post count is going down?

Was 116 - now 103 ? :headscratch:

The 'hacked account, sorry' sounds a bit too convenient to me. Of course it is always possible, but I wouldn't be convinced.

Possibly deleting replies etc., to get rid of any evidence of something?

I'm watching him, he's 'modifying' his posts by deleting them. Hiding any evidence that could help find him.

He's deleting posts. His UserCp constantly shows modifying post. Clearing up after himself now he's got the money.

Hacked account but he's got it back without any help from Admin or Mods..............i'm afraid to say but this is the umpteenth time you'll all have to kiss goodbye to your money thanks to another friendly scammer.

No, i'm simply saying that he has no history on here. Several sales on the go, highish value items, no past history. Alarm bells.
I hope the guy is legit, but the lack of a response on his part is not reassuring.

Just got this PM from him; I think he should post an answer here.

does he not realise that any posts quoted from him are still showing
[mod]#37
Main problem is that everyone is so desperate to get in first on a deal before someone else that they don't do their homework and make it very easy for scammers to get away with it. :-(
#38
It is absolute bu****it i have information on him and his time is running out.

I take it mods are trying to locate him
