Handed my cv in to comet last week never really expected to hear back from him as iv got no retail experince at all. So got a shock when they called me to ask me to come in for a group interview & they said it will last for around a hour.

Iv never had a group interview before so iv got no idea what to expect, has any one ever had a group interview and can give me some ideas what to expect & and anything that I should say or do that might not happen at a 1to1 interview.

I keep telling myself even tho iv got no retail experince there must of been somthing on my cv that they liked, I'm a bit nervous as not had anykind of interview for some time but interview is not untill Saturday so iv got plenty of time to try get my self ready for it

I believe a group interview is where they get loads of you in a room and tell you about the company and the ins and outs of the job. I've been to one of these before.

If they like you and vice versa they will probably call you back in for a one on one formal interview.

I apologise if I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will tell me straight soon. :)

As your being interviewed in a group, I guess you'll have to try and make a good impression and 'stand out' if possible (in a good way!)

If you got invited to an interview, then you're half way there already so just dress smart, act nice and i'm sure it'll work out fine

I think I have been for one of these before when I worked for comet for 1 day lol.

Basically, there was 4 people in the room, they spoke about how the company is doing yada yada, then ask a few questions. Then you all wait in the staff room and they will take you in one by one.

Best thing you can say is that you feel you are a blank canvas, so everything they say to you will be taken on board. Like moulding clay!!

They love people like you because you have no other experience, therefore they can mould you the way they want to.

i once had a group interview for some work at the G-MEX center. It was only serving food and drink at business meetings/art exhibitions etc but they really were on the lookout for anyone who stood out. 20 of us went to the interview and only about 7 of us came out with a job. just make sure you stay in the conversation and have a laugh where necessary. their looking for people who will work well as a team so dont seperate yourself from the noisy lot.

good luck

I had a group interview for my last job. There were 8 of us I think, some of them (ok most) much better qualified than me.

According to my boss, much later, I got the job because I was friendly & didn't seem to be full of sh*t.

So just be yourself :-)

if its a genuine group interview they will prob give you a task to do as a group and sit back to watch how the group interacts as a team.
This will supposedly mirror how you will perform as part of the working team and filter out those who do not interact, have poor social skills and draw attention to those with good communication abilities.

One word, yes. It was a few years ago now I must admit, but it was still very pushy sales driven. And I knew I wouldnt be able to cut such a pushy sales environment.

Its one of the reasons Comet in my area is always quiet.

Plus I hate Comet anyway, the customer support is shocking when it comes to computers etc.
