We have been looking at this one http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.202-5644.aspx
which seems quite a good deal for £550 but usually go for a Goodmans.

Any tips/advice please, as choosing a TV is just a nightmare. We basically want a 1080p 2 x Scarts and 2 x HDMI's. It would be getting a lot of usage, (being on for probably 16 hours a day!) and delivery preferable.

I'd seriously consider this one - gets very good reviews on the site and on the AV forum.

wouldnt go for that. for 550 you can get one of these:

edit: just read that you want 1080p these are not 1080p but are a much better make and if your going to leave it on for long you should go for a good panel like samsung or sony.

I've owned a Technika TV for a few years now, just used in bedroom but watched very often and had no problems whatsoever.

Your job is really diverse Dan, as far as I am aware you are a; screenwriting-property building-land surveying-council working-parcel force man delivering-Sony all knowing-shop assitant.

You possibly have the most hypenated job title ever known. Maybe you run your own business, DanDoc2's superstore - with you every step of the way!

Trying to see where the Technika TVs fit in.

Im afraid I have to agree, well I had one and the nicam sound sounded like speakers from a monitor(that being said they were monitor sized ones) and sounded worse than my old mono tv.

Pic quality I wouldnt say was terrible, as it outperformed my old Goodmans hdtv(the Technika was a HDTV too) but even for my 360 was no better on component than RGB on my old CRT, again not terrible.

The pic on component was sharp but the colours seemed far too eye hurting, they were really bright, just imagine a old tv with its colour button set really high.

Not a terrible tv by any means but I wouldnt buy it unless it was cheap.

Also NEVER go for a Goodmans, I had one last year and it wasnt worth the price, the speakers rattled if put about about 1/10 of maximum the HD pic was nice, but SD looked like someone had put a piece of plastic over the screen dulling the colours, and even dvd's looked dull through component.

Really depends on how much you are spending and what its gonna be used for, if its for a tv which is just for movies and you can get a Goodmans cheap then do go for it, but if you see a Samsung/Toshiba or whatever for slightly more go for that as the picture is far better.

Just bought two 19" HDTV with freeview for £179.97 from Tesco for the bedrooms, really easy to set up, great picture, does exactly what it says on the tin. Not sure I would go for a Technika as main TV though, would probably opt for more well known name if spending pots of money
