I have found numerous times that If I try and pre-order an item, and I use my Virgin Credit Card to get a discount that I am automatically charged for my pre-order! I recently pre-ordered the Special Edition of Grand Theft Auto IV on the Playstation 3, for £53.00, it would normally be £60.00 but as I said I got the discount because of using a Virgin Credit Card.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with pre-ordering with them? Also did you get a refund for your charge for a pre-order? It confuses me why my card was charged for, when the item is still due to release. It clearly states on their website that they will not charge any credit card until the item dispatches! Is it a temporary charge? Basically I do not want to end up being charged twice for the same item!

Thanks

What did they say when you called them?

Zavvi are rubbish.
They constantly charge for pre-orders when you place the order, and if you complain they just tell you 'the warehouse charged you by mistake' and send you a £5 voucher.
Its almost impossible to get through on the phone, on the rare occasion you do, you have a good chance of being lied to. If you email them, send about 5 or 6 and you may get a response to one of them in around a week.

That sounds a lot like what my situation was before. It looks like I will have to e-mail just to get my credit card refunded AGAIN:x They sent me some **** £5.00 off voucher as well and it never worked either when I placed an order.

Could someone recommend a better retailer that are reliable and will send pre-ordered games on time? Also I am trying to get the Grand Theft Auto IV (Special Edition) on the Playstation 3 for around £60.00, Amazon UK seem to be the only other alternative, there is Woolworths also are they any good with game pre-orders? Thanks

GAME are excellent with pre orders, all the games we have ordered arrived the day before release and were not charged for until despatch. Never have a prob with them.

Yeah I might consider them even though they sell their games often at the highest prices, including the Grand Theft Auto IV -PS3 (Special Edition) which I mentioned. As long as it arrives on time for release though I will have no complaints.

PS: I e-mailed Zavvi today asking for my charge to be removed, this is the last time I am purchasing items off them again, I would still buy from the Zavvi shops, but online never again:x
