Has anyone purchased tickets from ViaGoGo or Seatwave?

Seen some tickets on both sites i fancy but i have been reading some reviews that have said some sellers dont send the tickets and when they have contacted Viagogo or Seatwave they have fobbed them off and their customer service is poor.

I have seen some tickets for block 102 at the m.e.n arena, Manchester. Most sites have these tickets for about £100 each ticket but viagogo has this block row d for £79 each, im tempted but with the booking fee etc it comes to just under £200 and im worried it could be a dodgy seller & im worried the company wont give me a refund or help me if it is a scammer.

Any experiences of using viagogo or Seatwave?

Do they protect buyers?

Thanks.

I have direct experience of people turning and not receiving tickets, duplicate tickets, ebay scams etc etc etc. [ probably many more than 200 last year alone]
Don't buy from anyone other than a reputable seller. [MEN or Ticketmaster ] You turn up with ticketing problems on the night...we're not interested. We'll turn you away and tell you to contact your provider next day. No sympathy, no exceptions. It's electronic scanning by stewards and thus no way in unless with a proper bar-coded ticket. Those with only receipts are not admitted.

Thanks everyone for replying - i think ill stick to ticketmaster or m.e.n i just dont trust these sites.

Also does anyone know what the vip suites are like at the m.e.n

Seen one that the coop own and its only £85 each to go in there and its just above block 106. I know its not that close to the stage but does anyone know what its like to be in the suite, ive read there is also balcony seats that you can go out and sit on (Dont want to watch through the windows lol) Thanks

I have brought loads of tickets from Viagogo, the tickets are legit, yes they're sometimes expensive so they can earn some profit, as well as TicketMaster earning money, because they are in a team with TicketMaster.

It has a proper Barcode on it, And is a very Legitimate Business.

I hope this helps.

I have sold a few tickets on seatwave and as a seller I am well aware that I am liable if the tickets don't turn up, then I have to pay for tickets to the buyer at whatever the current market price is to ensure they get tickets. Apart from the fact that the fees are horrendous on seatwave for a buyer (and tickets are generally way overpriced by sellers) the system works.

Viagogo sell forged tickets and so many have been sold off their site for the Mumford and Sons concert at Portsmouth guildhall they have called the police regarding this company. I travelled there along with many other fans and HUNDREDS of us were turned away due to forged tickets off this site (I paid £270 for 2 tickets). I would love this post to go viral, I am severely **** off as well as 100s of other disappointed fans tonight

I have bought from Seatwave. Eddie Izzard tickets for Manchester. Ticketmaster price £80 + £5 for fees (thats printed on the ticket), seatwave charged us £160, twice the price. Go to Ticketmaster, not this rip off company!

Seatwave has amazing customer service. I am in the US and was looking to buy tickets to a sold out world cup qualifier game in Germany for our trip to Europe. The problem is that we are a group of 5, and the venue only issues 4 tickets per group to prevent mass resales, so I really had a hard time finding anyone who could sell 5 tickets together. There are a number of websites out there like Seatwave that allows to you buy tickets from individual sellers but none of them were willing to contact their sellers to see if all 5 tickets they were selling me were together -- no website other than Seatwave that is. Seatwave literally called and emailed the seller and confirmed with the seller that all 5 tickets that they had were together and got back to me within hours. And I got my tickets within days -- very happy! Aglika Kiryakova is the customer service representative who spent a lot of time ensuring that we will have an amazing vacation. Thank you Seatwave!

On 08th february In desperation i paid for tickets.from Seatwave for fleetwood mac concert in glasgow on thursday 3rd October - price £150 each . Over the months I received emails from them advising tickets will be sent a few weeks prior to the venue and not to worry . As recent as 26th sept I received one such email saying that although i must be a little concerned not to worry as they would be getting in touch with the seller and tickets should be forthcoming.

By this time I have bought rail tickets, hotel accommodation and am soooo looking forward to the concert . By the 29th inst no further info so I emailed asking for estimated date of delivery - no reply . I then phoned then and was told I had to wait until 1700 hours on 30th - the seller"s deadlline .

I phoned again tonight I was advised the sale would have to be cancelled . I demanded to speak to s supervisor ( apparently their policy doesn't allow this ) and was advised he / she will call me back tomorrow - 1st October- two days before the concert and basically i have been told its unlikely the tickers will be available but they will keep trying.

What kind of business is this ????? They take your money , hold on to it for months string you along , let you buy rail tickets , book accommodation ( I advised them by email) and days before the concert drop a bombshell - no tickets !!! Not only is this tantamount to Fraud ( shoddy practice if nothing else ) it is also extremely cruel .

I would advise anyone against using this company ........... EVER ,,,,,

I buy tickets to see Villa play from Viagogo, usually pick them up for sub £15, and always receive without a problem. I think they are actually sent out by the football club though, so I guess it depends who you are buying from.

Do you understand who you are buying the tickets from?
You are not buying them from seatwave? You are just buying them from a common punter?

Seatwave do have the option to get the next best two tickets for you and charge the sellers card though?
#20
That's awful! Surely you'll be able to get your money back for the tickets? I would still go to the venue and see if you can buy tickets from a tout outside and enjoy the night and your accommodation. Then when you return look at getting your money back for the originals. So awful
#21
No Surely about it...from their very flashy website “ You are buying tickets from a third party, viagogo is not the ticket seller. Ticket prices are set by the seller and may be above or below face value". lousy slimey corporate copouts. They resell to the highest bidder
and the band, theatre, sports club dont see a penny of it and if you buy travel tickets, book accomodation, etc before you have the tickets in your hand... well don't. Again, a quick google search will tell you that.
#22
It is fine to use thee two companies.

@Smaybelline I had the same thoughts and worries so I decided to write a detailed review of Viagogo: http://www.ticketreview.net/ticket-agent/viagogo/

Hope this helps clear any worries that you still have.

VIAGOGO is the worst online company basically... Worst customer service ever!
I've sold 2 tickets on their website and discovered at the end (time of payment) that they have considered 4 tickets to be sold.
Looking forward to sue VIAGOGO
#25
i purchased one ticket for Barcelona Vs Manchester City match in Barcelona from Viagogo, when i recived the ticket it was a scan of the original !!!
#26
Regarding price.....do people not know that its the seller who determines the price of the ticket? Not Seatwave or viagogo or stubhub. If I want to sell a £100 ticket for £900 on viagogo that's my decision and has nothing to do with them. It's the basic understanding of economics and supply/demand. And if you decide to pay 900 for it....that's your decision.
They take a markup above the price set by the seller for the transaction. How do you expect them to be a viable business if they don't charge for their service?
If you decide to pay 3 times the face value for an event (as I have done many times) that's your decision. Now if the tickets are fake and you don't get into the event....then that's totally a different issue.

Seatwave are a terrible company. Got to venue after a 2 hour journey, tickets were fake. They refuse to refund train tickets and provide compensation for complete waste of a day. My son was very disspapointed. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY

I've been waiting whole week my ticket to football match Rome-Juventus.

Now ticket is sent back to seller...

They say that my address was not correct.

Address was correct and I repeat this: I put address label with my surname outside of door and on ringbell to ring inside. I put address inside on the mailbox and then into the door.

What else I should have done. To catch a delivery man and yell: look here it is, look!!!

This is ridiculous way of selling tickets...maybe there was no ticket at all. There's no straight contact between seller and receiver. Only slow system via ViaGOGO. They ask in 48 hours when over 3 days to happening and in 24 hours when under 3 days to happening. I write back and there's answer which is sort of routine answer. And that goes without knowing what is happening. Slow, slow, slow. Time goes out and now ticket is sent back to seller. Or was there any ticket at all?!

Why not straight answer-question chat between people. You fool people. Avoid ViaGOGO!!!

Rip off but usually genuine

Not read everyone's comments yet but dan656 they ARE based in uk, cannon street London Is head office. When they have problems they use Switzerland as a cover up for illegal tradings and have people write to there and basically jump through hoops for refunds so they just give up.
This is where gets interesting Switzerland does not have any Viagogo staff... It's just a mailing address to divert angry customers away and so they don't have a leg to stand on going to uk trading standards or police,.. Where do you think that letter in Switzerland gets diverted to? You guessed it London.
Total crooks I'm an ex powerseller on their platform and have a large legal case anyone can get in contact with me should u need contact info for these crooks. I have everything down to managers mobile numbers

Yes I have and got the tickets three day after I bought them faces value was 30 pounds and paid 82 .50 for them but that was the only place I get the tickets for the show I wanted
#35
Only use Viagogo if you don't mind paying £198.75 for two £80.00 tickets plus fees, only to receive tickets worth £30.00 plus £5.45 each!!! TOTAL RIP OFF!
#36
stay away from both of em .. too many scamers

NEVER BUY FROM VIAGOGO

Took my money 7 months in advance of event, advised day before they had no tickets for us. Sure they offered a refund of the ticket price but we still lost on train tickets, hotel costs and days off work. VIAGOGO............... as far away from this company as you can!!

Last year I purchased 4 tickets from the ticketing website Viagogo to see Sam Bailey at Birmingham Symphony Hall. The tickets were a gift for my mother who is a huge Sam Bailey fan. She supported Sam right from her very first audition on X Factor & voted for her all the way.

At the time I made the purchase it didn't really register that Viagogo were a 'ticket marketplace'. After all, their website has a guarantee that claims:

viagogo provides choice, convenience and consumer protection, so that people can buy and sell tickets for live events all over the world with confidence.

"viagogo guarantees every transaction.

We do this by:
Monitoring all transactions to ensure that sellers deliver
Delivering tickets using world-class courier services
Only paying sellers once the buyer has attended the event"

I cannot tell you how dissapointed I was to receive a phone call just a few days before the concert to tell me that the seller no longer had the tickets. Dissapointed and very upset that I had to tell my Mum that we could no longer see Sam Bailey. Seeing her disappointment when I told her was heartbreaking.

I simply cannot understand how a seller can say that they have tickets to sell 12 months before a concert and then suddenly say that they no longer have them. Did they decide at the last minute to use them themselves? Or did they sell them to someone else for a higher price? I'd like to know who the seller was so I can tell them just what I think of them, but I suppose that information is not allowed to be passed on.

Ok, so Viagogo refunded me the money that I paid, but that doesn't account for for the disappointment or distress that has been caused, nor the fact that they have had my money for 12 months when I could have used it for something else or invested it.

I will never use their services again & I advise others not to use their services either.

worst company I've ever used. purchased tickets. One hour before the show whilst I was trying to collect the tickets they said they would provide me with replacements which weren't as good. couldn't get in with them as they needed to be printed. rang call centre and they said they couldn't do anything as they were in Ireland and they hung up on me. worst company I've ever used will never use them again.

Keep away from seatwave ....they have no shame! Paid £230.00 for two tickets, tickets only worth £32.50 each. How can they do this, it's not Wright.
